Suppose I really really really really don't want to put in the windshield and back glass myself.

Who do I call that's going to do a great job with something this old?

I learned how to put wrap-around windshields in by breaking the first one.  You got this!  Back glass on mine was disappointingly easy.

Some glass shops will do house calls.  Your windshield should be relatively easy.

Failing that - ask around at your local hot rod body shops; they likely have a guy who does old-school rope-in windshields.

The whole truck is polished in the first stage. I had to go back and redo a few panels with 2500, but it's all pretty good now. I made a walk around video but it's really hard to see anything useful in it. I'm not totally happy with a few spots, some very slight waviness is present, but oh well. I'm realizing that after the next stage of buffing, I can start to put the marker lights and tail lights on for real. That's exciting.

Once all the trim and lights and proper wheels and tires are in place, those few imperfections will become invisible.

You are not alone in your excitement. Go Tuna!

Thanks!

Went over the whole truck with the finer polish and black pad and honestly it looks the same.

On to assembly!!

Here is a video walk around, but it's before I revisited the 2500 grit and before I did the second dose of buffing. It's not a great video but it's what I got.

In reply to Dusterbd13-michael :

Thanks!

I think I have decided on a flat gunmetal grey for the bumper and mirrors and handles. I think I should buy paint for most, and do the handles in cerekote if the paint wears off, which it will. Once that's done I can decide if the grill gets white or something else. I am not sure yet.

I think gunmetal for the handle. How about emblem?

I'm not sure that i've ever seen "V Eight" written out that way before (as opposed to the typical "V-8")...i don't hate it

I love the word being written out, but I can't decide on the chrome and red.

I like the OE look of the chrome / black / red emblems, and I don't think they take anything away or distract from the yellow and gunmetal theme.

Same here. At some point, if the surfaces we expect to be plated with a reflective (chrome, etc.) finish are instead coated with a metallic (but not body color) paint, there's a risk of looking like a plastic toy.

If the goal is to eliminate brightwork, it might be worth emulating what GMC did on base-model pickups. Might have to go back a few years to earlier body styles for examples, as I suspect door handles, emblems, window moldings, etc., were always chrome by '67.

My base model '61 came with no chrome except the handles and the badges.  I left them as they were.

I spent way too much money today on smooth hidden fastener slightly modified primer bumpers front and rear. I will sell my front chrome one rather than try to modify it. I think this will look way better, time will tell.

This going to be your first "rope-in" window install? I am assuming the window and windshield were not bonded for this truck?

Yes this will be my first. What do you mean bonded?

I had tunakid 4 come and help tonight to try and get this emblem on. I got the more forward pin locked down, but the back one is hopeless. Both of them on the passenger side are also hopeless. Any advice before I panic and take off the inner fender or the fender itself? I really really really don't want to do that.
