Got it running today. Carb leaks pretty steadily and there are a few pinholes in the radiator, but nothing that can't be easily patched up.
hehehehe... (in 1978) my $400 68 GTO had an engine that looked like that... in my cars case it was a 400 under the 2 bbl.

You suck. I'm taking my tri-power and leaving this place.

I'll make you a deal... you give me a free tri-power intake and carbs and I promise a 428 build for this car.
So far I have some pretty good stuff laying around. I bought a 9" housing and 4 center sections for $48 at an auction. I have a 550-hp LQ9/LS6 that is mostly complete. I have a T56 built to handle it. I have an aluminum flywheel and Spec clutch. I have an F-body pedal assembly. Anything else, I have a TIG welder and a plasma cutter.
If I go any further than that, I'm calling Schwartz Performance for a complete chassis.

At one time I actually had three of those setups. I threw one of them away! But sadly I don't have any now. Anyway, they look cool, but you can make more power with a single carb, as I'm sure you know.
Its getting to the point where finding the an engine of the same brand as a vintage GM car is more special than seeing an LS in it.
I don't disagree. The LS was for another car that got sold. I just can't deny the lure of 11.35:1 compression on pump gas, the ease of EFI, etc. Can't do that with a 455. Another thing... I really don't like Pontiac engines. I don't like the chamber designs, the 750 lbs, the leaky valley pan, the funky water pump, the long stroke/small bore. If its getting anything old, it would be a Buick 455 or a Caddy 500.
I am all for nostalgia and there is something neat about an old engine and its quirks... but I've build dozens of them. And I'm tired of quirks. I hate quirks. Quirks suck. For once I want an engine that doesn't have quirks.

The current plan is to drive it as is. I will probably swap out the powerglide for a TH350 to get a deeper first. There is no rush on an engine swap since the 326 seems great. Suffice it to say that I'm on the fence about the LS, but if and when it does get swapped out, it will almost certainly not be a pontiac engine.

That was always my plan - TH350 and Qjet on the 326, a set of headers and duals. Then if I got ambitious, put a posi rear with something a little shorter than the 2.56 that's in it.
That and power disc brakes.

You forgot to carry the 6. Otherwise, you math is spot on.

yup. Power discs are in the works. I'm on my annual pilgrimage to Summit Racing this weekend and usually they have some goodies I can scavenge from the clearance section. If not, I'll hit up a junkyard and get some A-body discs. I have a good power diaphragm and master cylinder from a B-body, so I would need a good prop valve.
