Congrats on IOE!!! Not a small deal!

We just found out IOE comes with a free race entry. So that's pretty sweet!
Tearing into the NC and making a good mess in the garage. The LSD I bought came with a complete 100k mile rear subframe. Unfortunately the donor had been hit in the rear and I can see some damage to the subframe, otherwise I'd just swap the entire thing. Instead I'm pillaging the diff, axles, and hub/bearing assemblies. Working on doing the new coilovers in the same motion.
She's back on the ground with some fresh hardware and LSD. I put about 40 fun miles on it Sunday afternoon. I'm waiting for it to settle a bit to get the ride height dialed and then an alignment.
Current ride height situation. I'm expecting it to settle a little more with more miles. I put new shock boots in with the coilovers that have a fairly significant spring seat built into them. With time and miles, the springs should squish those down a bit.
Productive morning. Got 'er aligned to Flyin Miata specs, just in time to hit the last half hour of Cars n Coffee out at the Freedom Factory. Entertaining to watch all of the high dollar cars file out of the circle track, reving and peeling out. The cooler cars are in the parking lot though.
that's a gasser el Camino ahead of the monster truck.
I've bumped up my date at Fab9 from late August to mid July. And I'm also strongly considering adding their GT turbo kit to the work order. They'll install the turbo kit during the swap for just $200 added labor. 😳
sure as hell beats installing the kit later down the road myself. Picking up a complete, tuned, turn-key 2.5 turbo car sounds pretty awesome!
Do you want a turbo car or is it just because the deal seems too good to pass up? I'd be hesitant to add the complexity and unintended consequences of that decision.

Certainly a valid point, and my only real cause for hesitation. But I DO want a boosted car :) the Flyin Miata turbo kit becoming available was a big factor in buying the NC to begin with. I was also considering an AWD CRV project previously solely for adding a turbo. lol.
I've recently watched a lot of videos about turbo NC's and specifically FM videos. Everyone in the videos seems to be loving their boosted street car! I wouldn't consider adding boost to a track build of my own, but this is def a street car.
I feel the FM kit has a lot of extra cost in it related to the CARB certification and making it California legal, while the Fab9 kit is very similar but better bang for the buck. Fab9 is also offering free Powdercoating (color of my choice) on all of the metal bits of their kit. I spent about 20 mins on the phone with Bryan at Fab9. They have a shop car that's been running the kit for several years, with no other mods. He claims it's been 100% trouble free and drives like a stock miata when not jamming the gas pedal.
I'm a big advocate for simplicity but it's been at least 20 years since I sold my first gen DSM, and I am craving some boost! I intended to play with the car a bit as 2.5 NA, but I can't ignore the time and money savings of doing it all now. Turbo kit ordered!
octane blue charge pipes and intake manifold!
Sounds like you are making the right choice. No sense going back to do a bunch of the same work if they are already in there and even more so if it's matches the end goal.
Today I learned that, in 2010, Mazda created the "Super20" concept. It's just an NC with some cool details and upgrades. Several of them along the same lines as my car!
Low offset 16" wheels and hardtop:
Boost! Super20 is Supercharged (looks like FlyinMiata was involved?)
soft top removed. I did end up removing mine and I'm using bolted attachment for the hardtop.
My NC turbo, dynotronics kit, is a riot! Needs and LSD and suspension (thanks for your old setup). Make sure the downpipe doesn't touch the firewall otherwise you might end up with a bit of a fire like I did this weekend. Fortunately my wife was with me and had a bottle of water so we didn't have to watch it burn 🤣
