What you think? Good idea?
Why don't they have a $2k challenge on the west coast?
How much power can you get out of each Prius motor? Maybe put 2 where the diff was and use one to power each rear wheel. Individual wheel motors give better grip than any kind of diff.

They had one in California. Only 1 person showed up iirc.
Wow, I don't understand how the turnout can be so bad? How many are their at the Florida events? (btw I used to live in Gainesville and drag raced at the track there)

Stock gen1 prius is 44hp. It can easily do 4x that, using two of them then you get 300+hp
Driving each wheel is not efficient without any gears, so have two sets of gears would be heavier and not off-the-shelf hardware,
and it also creates software complication that I would not want for a low-budget project, like all of mine are..but it is an interesting idea.

Probably from low 40 to mid-60 entrants.
I will take my own advice when I say a RWD car is not a good choice for a roadracing EV.
Converting an RX8 into FWD or AWD is just the wrong approach, better to use a different car.
So the RX8 EV is out. Now I have a 250hp EZ30 H6 looking for a home, and me thinks this is a better way to go for the RX8.
Mid-engine. Has not been done before, for probably good reasons...but I don't know what they are..yet.
Alternatively, I have an old-school Ford 5.0, and gosh I really want to hear the rumble of a over-cammed V8 again,
but the flat-6 just makes more sense, lighter, lower CG, blah blah. hmmm.
