The long-running problems with my 2014 Heep Grand Cherokee continue so a new daily was required.  I travel a lot for work, cart the extended family many times, and wanted something that could tow if required as well as to haul the occasional big car part like the Ford 9" rear axle housing soon headed to blast, add some brackets, and then powdercoating.  I don't have the space to store a dedicated tow pig and have a daily driver so I needed something that could do it all.  I haven't owned a GM product since my '96 Lumina company car for no other reason than they failed to meet my needs when a new/new to me car was in the cross hairs.  A 2017 Yukon Denali XL popped up locally so I went to take a look and a drive.  It was clean, low miles, and priced right.  The carfax was clean and a friend at GM ran the VIN which also came back clean.  I haven't driven something this size since my 2003 Ram 2500 4x4 Cummins 6 speed so I'm taking my time and driving cautiously so far.

I've put about 400 miles on her so far and am getting used to the truck.  Road trips have been impressive though still rather short.  The 6.2 moves the truck nicely and the magnetorheologic dampers control the ride well.  Mods will be limited to winter tires mounted to the used 17" Sierra wheels I picked up tonight.  Tires should be here Friday.  This will not be my first minus fitment but it will be my first -5" fitment!  Pics soon for those interested in seeing a big white bus (no offense intended nor implied Wally!)

Congrats! Pics?  Congrats on the 6.2L. The 5.3 is having lots of problems lately, glad you got the good motor.

That would be LT based not LS( I believe)  and it’s an awesome engine. I had DI 6.2 in my last truck and it was great although my ‘18 with the DI 5.3 I’m happy with too. Best of luck with it.

Thanks a lot.  I've run up about 600 more miles and like it so far.  Snow tires arrive tomorrow from TireRack to go on these wheels which I picked up Monday night for cheap.  We'll see if the 2012 OEM TPMS sensors talk to the 2017 TPMS system.

Those trucks are so good looking. Whoever did the styling hit it out of the park.

Thanks everybody!  I was closing in a new Ford Expedition when this popped up.  I'm still a bit gun shy of new platforms during first year of production.  The GMC has a few years under it's belt now.  First tank of fuel is showing 20.2mpg (display) for about 70% freeway driving.  It's a reduction from the ecodiesel Jeep but not as bad as I thought it might be considering the size of the beast.  Hopefully it serves me well for many years and many miles.

We got to Mexico every year with a friend's Escalade ESV. Together, we have 8 people and all luggage  fits in the back. It is so nice not to have roof rack etc.

Ice covered roads yesterday afternoon led to a few pucker moments on I-96 westbound.  Winter tires and wheels were dropped off for dismount/remount last night.  I'll have them installed later today.  First full tank ended up at 19.8mpg.  It will do better if I can stay outta the throttle.

Anti-hero winter tire/wheel fitment ENGAGEDsad

I've done +1, +2, +3 (wife's Odyssey summer wheels are Saab 9-5 Aero wheels), -1 winters (a bunch) but this is the first -5 fitment I've ever done.  Too dark for pics tonight.  On the positive side the TPMS system likes the 2012 sensors in the OEM 17" wheels I bought.

WeaherTech rear cargo mat installed.  Light front window tint and maybe black mirror caps to replace the white ones and this one is done.

The used 17" wheels I bought were pretty crusty when I bought them so this summer they were blasted and powder coated bronze

The OEM silver was fine but clear coat was peeling badly and the wheels had a lot of corrosion.
Buddy said the 22" to 17" fitment made it look like the bus skipped leg day.
