I've offered a lot of superlatives in this thread already, but man, you might be sitting on one of the most historic Pontiac performance finds EVER. This is incredible. This is like a who's who of classic Pontiac performance luminaries, all joining forces through your dad. If you run across any Trans Am Specialties stuff, let me know. That's my area of expertise!

I'll watch out for that. I have a feeling that I'll only need to look hard to find something from them.
I am headed back up on Saturday AM.
Ill be bringing back the Formula, and more parts.
A few more trinkets from the last trip.... still stuck in the nooks and crannies of the Suburban.

If I do build a car... that shift handle will go back unpolished.
I had that exact t handle in high school in my 70 duster. Through college.
Awesome find.

I can feel that through my phone.
I have that same shift handle sitting on top of the Hurst Dual Gate in my Trans Am. It's perfect.
In reply to Tony Sestito :
Same font? Notice the HURST is completely vertical. No tilt.
Probably the coolest Pontiac thing That I've kept over the years.... 1970 455 "yh" engine that I built when I was 19.

Good point. I have two of these T-handles. I believe one is straight up, but the one in the car is slanted. I'll have to check out my parts stash.
I have not seen the slanted version mine was straight

Minor difference between original and later.
Wow, just read this whole thread! Sorry for your loss. What an amazing story of an amazing man. These cars and parts bring back some memories! Had a high school friend that had a 1971 Formula 350. And the shop I worked at 1975-76 had a customer who would bring in his 1970 Formula 400 that actually had a built 455 in it and the suspension was set up for carving corners. The best part was his name was Joe Fast! Whatever you choose to do with this collection I know it will honor your dad's memory. Thanks for sharing this heart warming yet bittersweet time in your life.
I'm glad you got to meet, even if it was only for a short time. Who knew Pontiacs were genetic?
In reply to Appleseed :
I call it B-O-P Syndrome. It runs in my family, too.
My dad is more of an Olds and Pontiac guy, but my grandfather was a Buick/Olds man. I ended up falling on the Buick/Pontiac ownership spectrum mixing both of their interests, but I love Oldsmobiles just the same. Hell, my Pontiac originally came with an Olds engine. The ultimate B-O-P mutt, right off the line!
The fact that a_florida_man lived the life of a Pontiac guy unknowingly being the son of what appears to be a VERY prominent Pontiac person just proves the hypothesis that it's hereditary. Truly an incredible thing.
Prepping for tomorrow's trip.
While checking lights, I caught this view.

If you had told me a year ago that my projects situation looked like this and that I was about to go get 2 1971 Firebirds... I'm not sure what I would have thought.
Kinda looks like an AI composite of me having too much stuff.

Thank you sir! I appreciate the offer to help as well... as this aint over yet lol.
Oh man, this is such an amazing thread!
I've always been a Pontiac guy, my first three cars were a '91 Grand Prix (thanks gramma!), a '76 Firebird Formula and then a '68 Lemans GTO clone.
I'll be following with great interest!
A gift from Jim, from our first in person meeting.

Today is the first time I've been here in quite a while.., SO glad to have found this thread! Fantastic story, glad you got to meet him, and the loss sucks
I've owned more BOP stuff than Chevy, although most have been new enough to be after they were Chebbys with BOP badges.
Haven been raised as a Ferd guy (love my Falcons, Comets, and loved the AC Cobras) most of the GM products I liked best from the '60s on up, were BOP.
I'm too far to be much help, but I'm with ya in sprit. And if anything does need to make it to Micheal's, I'd be honored to be a part of that kinda relay!

This is one of my favorite hood scoops - like a racing stallion with flared nostrils so far out front pulling in the coldest air to feed the high performance engine under the hood.......
I love when cars were designed on a drafting board and not on a computer to match the other jelly beans.
I agree with Every. Single. Word!
Well said, sir!
