it all depends. Most dealers that make any real money are buy here pay here and make money on financing and warranties they sell.

This particular dealer was able to sell pretty low because he had no money tied up in the car. 100% profit, until you get caught.

Oh wow read the entire thread. I was thinking to myself how did you get a 2010 9-5 aero for so cheap? Even with 100k on the clock, most places i've looked at want more than what a car with a defunct brand is worth.

A little bit of an update. I talked with the auction company and they will hold the car for us until we get money from the AG. The AG office said it will most likely be late July before we get reimbursed.

Thanks for the update. So interesting. In govt terms, late July sounds quick.

Still hope this turns out well for you. I wonder how many other people also got screwed by this.

Dang

Sorry to hear about the troubles. I've been reading similar stories on various forums lately.

Cool the auction house will hold the car.

Best of luck

We got a letter from the AG office with an affidavit in it. I had to get the affidavit notarized and sent back then the "check should be in the mail" so hopefully the end is near.

Well E36 M3. I emailed the auction house to say that we would be getting our money soon and this is what I just got back form them:

"We were notified by the AG's office that you were being refunded and purchase had been rescinded. Because of this, we sold the car at our August 10, 2017 auction. I apologize for any inconvenience."

I should not be upset but I am.

So they took the car from you.... Then they sell at auction because the AG told them you got refunded? Something smells E36 M3ty here and I don't like it... At all...

I should be happy, and I am, that we are getting our money back but if they were just going to sell the car why say they would hold it for us? I had some Scotch last and am mostly over it, though I have about $90 worth of matched paint and stuff to fix the bumper that I can't return and now can't use.

I'd be pissed too!
Will the auction house tell you who bought it? More than likely it is was bought for resale and it might be quite possible to still yet buy that exact model.

Have you searched the popular websites? Its likely on a lot somewhere not too far away.

In reply to John Welsh :

I thought about that but as much as we like the car I do not want to pay more for it than I did the first time. We didn't need it and if it had been more expensive I would not even have looked at it. It was one hell of a deal that got us a nice car for 10 days, such is life. The part that pisses me off is the fact that I was told by the owner of the place that they would hold on to the car until we got our refund and then sell it back to us for what the dealer owed on it and I took him at his word. If they had not said that I would have taken out a loan to buy it and then just pay the loan off with the refund. Oh well, hind sight and all that.
