I just couldn't help myself. I was browsing through FB and found this gem just down the road from the house:
So being a die hard fan of old NASCAR I am setting out to build a replica of the Buddy Arrington's #67. Plans are fully caged, 408 powered, five or six speed, and possibly keep it street legal. Don't worry, I don't see it at TNIA until mid 2024. Honestly I am going to drive it as is next year for a fun commuter car while I stock the parts shelves and build an engine. Not to worry though, we have a full year lined up for the 71 car including opening day at Rockingham and a track event at Darlington to kick off Throw Back Weekend for the 75th anniversary of NASCAR.
Nice! If I remember right, wasn't that the last Mopar in the NASCAR Cup Series until Dodge re-entered the sport in the early 2000s?
You going to drop it over a cup chassis?
And opener at rockingham? Care to share?
A personal little secret...I've always been a fan of these Imperials.
Just the other day I stumbled across this one in Canada. Even though the pics ar crap, I thought it looked good with so much tire.
GET OUT OF MY HEAD. First the Valiant circle-tracker, now the Arrington tribute Imperial? Here I thought I had uniqueish ideas.
I'm excited to see what results.

True. That marked the true end of an era.

hahah thanks man! I found the Valiant again. It is seeing some love up in north Florida.

I have the 1984 rule book. Considering a hybrid of NASCAR legal but keeping the stock torsion bars (upgraded with something new that Firm Feel just released)

The rockingham thing is run through Stock Car Classics:

I promised the wife I would drive this thing for at least 12 months while I gathered parts. (before I disappear into the garage for a year long build) As with any car this age, it is full of surprises. The wiring is a MESS! I having to rewire the headlight switch, add turn signal indicators and going to add a cheap set of Autozone gauges for oil pressure and water temp to get me by for a while.
