Pretty cool stuff, Lil Stampie.  Have fun with it!

I never owned a 4K like that, though they were on my short list for my first "after college" car.  A Saab 9KT won out.

I just saw a red car just like yours at an Audi ice driving event.  It was all caged and kitted out for ice racing, and looked super awesome!

I was thinking about you guys yesterday while cleaning up and painting that R200 differential you and your dad sent out to me.  If you need any sheet metal brackets cut out on my CNC plasma cutter, send me a drawing!

Lil Stampie isn't as good checking his thread as I am.  Right now the Audi is still on the trailer. We'll take it off next weekend as we have two more vehicles to pick up soon.  That with still needing to move the RV and pulling it's 454, oh did I mention we're going to try and Challenge two vehicles this year?  So yeah Audi will be back burner.  I have a feeling we'll have some Fridays this summer to at least assess it and maybe hopefully get it running.

Glad you're taking care of that R200. Reminds me that I need to sell another one to pare down my collection.

He's with his mom today but he and I are hitting Amelia Island Concours tomorrow.  I'll remind him to check in on this thread.

I asked Lil Stampie to reply to you guys this morning.  After staring at his phone for a while he said he couldn't come up with anything to say. Guess y'all have to wait until we actually do something.

No worries, man.  Hard for a kid to know what to write to a bunch of nerdy adults.  We'd all be happy if he messed with the car a little and took a picture!

We just finished taking the car off the trailer. We did the tie it to a a different trailer and drive off solution and we got perfect, dad will do the pictures

What Lil Stampie didn't say was he got to drive the truck in dropping the Audi off. Here it is off the trailer.

Here's how perfect we hit the landing.

Here's what happened last time I tried driving the trailer out from under the car.  That trailer tongue isn't the trailer the RX7 was on. I didn't totally berk it up.

And now the Audi is tucked in for her nap.

We looked at the front right wheel problem and the shock absorber was no attached to the car. The little cap thing on the strut tower was stuck on so we couldn't put it in. The all thread rod was temperary hold the suspension together tool. Dad will add pictures.

Here's the proud owner after proclaiming "hey I have an engine!"

So the all thread was a temp fix to get the Audi rolling enough to load. It basically took the place of the strut insert. The top.

While it held together to roll the alignment was a little off.

We got everything apart down to this little berker.  This is the nut to hold the strut insert in.

This is the tool idea I came up with. It didn't budge it.

I think we're going to have to add heat. We're not used to working on northern cars.

At this point Lil Stampie asked for a break in the AC inside. That turned into me falling asleep and taking a nap.

We temp put it together enough to get the jack out and that was the end of our day. I've told Lil Stampie here can have every other Friday this summer so hopefully we'll get some work done before school starts.

Yes. Northern E36 M3 sucks to wrench on. Good thing I know what you paid for the car wink.

I'm glad to see some progress again and I will look for the weekly Friday updates.

Put the strut tube in a vice, and use a large pipe wrench.  I've had to do this many times.  I'm expecting to have to do it again soon as I'm picking up a 91 Coupe Quattro in the morning...

We got the shock absorber cap off today. It wouldn't come off at first but we went to home Depot to get a blow torch and heated it up and got it off and put the shock in and the cap back on we also put on a coil over on since we don't have a spring Perch on the car and surprisingly looked ride hight.

Holy run on sentence. I'm glad I'm paying for that private school.

The coil over was a temp move to get it in rolling condition. We'll have to research and see what spring rates to use. Right now the spring rate is the red spring.

Added bonus picture of Grandma Stampie supervising us.

For spring rates, you will want around 300 for a daily driver.  Also, you will want to weld in some sort of flat surface for the threaded sleeve to sit on.  If you need some of those, hit me up.  I've been making and selling "seat rings" for quite a while now.

Is that 300 all the way around?  Thanks for the offer on the seat rings but we can make some.  There's still some thought of Challenge so he's watching his budget. Speaking of budget it's at $1.39 since he bought a nut for his shock absorber yesterday. Well more accurately he walked up to the cashier and then looked at me when she asked for money.

You can do 300 all the way around for more nuetral handling, or go a little higher in the rear for better handling.  If I remember correctly, you will want them in 7" or 8" lengths.

We just got a new rear window for the Audi and it's the cool Quattro defrost thing. We also got some door handles all for $160.

good to see another tornado red 4kcsq on the board. yes

We appreciate the offer but made more sense to get one in person instead of shipping. Hope to get back on it soon. Next is to get it running.

Also, order a single spring for front or rear that's twice the length, and half the rate, then cut it in half. Can't recall who first shared that gem here, but it's a good one. Maybe SVRreX..

Lol-And I got it from talking to Hong Norr about the beautiful Boss Hong build that has been making a reappearance on the board lately. IIRC they used a JY truck spring cut in half on that car for the rear springs.

Funny story: I parked next to them in the pits before I knew the horns shot fire. I was wondering why they kept looking at me and talking to each other. Apparently they were trying to gauge whether my car was far enough away to avoid being set on fire. laugh
