Dude. You are truly living the life!

I'm sure trying!  Without kids, my wife and I spend most of our weekends either doing chores around the house/yard or looking for fun/racing activities to occupy our free time.

USB charging ports in the dash

and some fixed mounts for the targa top.  These add more rigidity than I expected.  👍

Time for a new company truck!   My previous truck (2018 base model n/a v6 f150) gave 280k trouble-free miles, including many thousands of miles towing.  Other than basic maintenance, the only thing it needed in that time was a catalytic converter. Made me a strong believer in the F150 product!  This one is a 2024 ecoboost.  It's got about 1,000 lbs more towing capacity than the last one and a huge 36 gallon gas tank.  Those are very welcome upgrades. I'd have preferred the smaller rear doors and larger bed, but those are rare at the dealers around here.  This one received some damage on the hood in the recent hurricanes. Dealer replaced the hood and took several thousand off the price tag.   Free truck and free gas are definitely some nice perks of my job!

I recently had a 2005 manual awd Honda crv pop up in my Facebook marketplace.  Now I'm watching YouTube videos and picturing adding a cheap eBay turbo kit to one.   Looks like 2002-2004 models have the cable throttle k24 that allows easy engine management with kpro.   I really don't need something like this at all.  But it sounds like a fun build and could give me some experience for a future turbo on the 914.  Hmmm.

Yeah. Worse case scenario you learn something and have fun. I'd say buy it.

A dude on 914 World was selling this 1970s trading card. My wife and I have had nothing but orange cats.  Seemed like a good fit. 😹

I can't find any indication as to where it originally came from.

edit: google says it's from a "Crazy Cars" series from Wonderbread

Did some local Jeepin' Saturday and fixed up the broken YXZ Sunday.  It got a new clutch, clutch hub, and clutch basket.  Rallyx and short course seasons are starting up again soon! 🤘

Me too!  I wanted them darker than the standard silver, but not too dark. I think the powdercoater nailed the color.  He talked me into the metallic flake, saying it'll help keep the intricacies of the wheel from disappearing with the darker color.  I was skeptical, but I'm really liking it.

the wheels were in rough shape when I dropped them off.  They had significant corrosion and pitting in some areas.  The powdercoater spent time filling some areas and used a special primer.  He said they were the hardest wheels he's ever dealt with and nearly refused the job.

The flake looks spectacular. Looking forward to seeing them on the car.

So I recently saw this old issue of Classic Motorsports on eBay with a 914 and Boxster on the cover with a comparison of the two, so I snagged it.

cool article!  But this quote here got me laughing and also sums up well, the main reason I undertook the drivetrain swap project - that original transmission suuuucked!  😂

Such a killer little car you built.

If I were doing my typical work trip to the Tampa area later this month (I think you're around there somewhere), I'd probably demand a ride in it!

Have you considered running a long travel kit on the SxS for a little more stability now that they are legal in the class?  I have a friend who is thinking about running a SxS and I am trying to figure out if the extra track width help or hurts.

In reply to ojannen :

I'd consider long travel if I raced a lot at big, high speed courses, where you're throwing the machine sideways at 50 mph.  But def not for scca stuff. My stock track width is perfect for the agility needed dodging cones.  I learned that adding width is no help at scca rallyx when I built the "prerunner" Ranger.  For UTV rallyx, it's far more beneficial to get the car low and add the fattest sway bars you can find.  What model machine does your friend have?

I'd love to be at the scca test n tune this weekend but it overlaps with the first short course race of the season!

The short course season opener did not go as planned.   I'm a little sore but I'm ok and the machine is ok.  I'm considering stepping back a bit from the short course stuff.  It is definitely the form of racing most prone to crashes and wrecking the machine.  I'm not exactly sure what caused the crash here.  Obviously driver error, but I think I was anticipating a different level of grip.  I got sideways and clipped an inside tractor tire, sending me over.  I did have a tire debead on the right rear, not sure if it happened prior to the rollover or during. All of the safety gear worked as designed.  We race on!
