I'm really going enjoy this build. You have a blank canvas basically. Time and money may be the only handicap. With your desire and skills, this should be killer. By the way, I hear tell someone has a C3 with Nascar slicks. Maybe the bolt pattern will work?
In reply to Dirtydog (Forum Supporter) :
Stampies c3 is 5x4.75 whereas the stock cars are all 5x5.
However, his bassett 15x10 wheels will take Goodyear nascar takeoff tires easily, and theres a local that sells them for $20 each
Hmmm....That Florida connection might need connecting.

1970 Mustang's wheelbase is 108 inches.
I second this idea!

Happy to help steer you the right direction.

Lol!!
It seems to be about 2 turn lock to lock, correct? I haven't gotten any further than this yet....

Typically 3 lock to lock, but stockcars are turn radius limited

If it wasn't for those gigantic slicks, throttle steering could actually help
In reply to StripesSA1 :
Well.....
Yeah, the gigantic slicks are just freaking AWESOME. just means ill need more power from the 5.3. Or kearn trail braking.

With the right motor it still works :)
Was great to meet you, Michael!

But then, if I understand the maths right, you would be out of challenge budget... Unless you can get a good deal on a really well build motor?

I see, but, regards to my statement above...
Or is this car already out of Challenge budget?
In reply to StripesSA1 :
I am already out of budget with this car and my stash of parts. Sitting at about $2400 or so, tires included.
Goal is on track for under 3000 (which is challenge budget and max recoup combined)

Then go for it... But I think first get it rolling, then running and... You get the idea.
But definitely something big to throttle steer with
In reply to StripesSA1 :
Agreed.
Step one is still cleaning, painting, and making chassis and seating right. Then running and shakedown. Then body. Then fine tuning everything.

Does this local guy have a Craigslist listing or something of the sort? I'm in NC too and I've been trying to find a good source for used NASCAR tires but I haven't found much success so far.
In reply to AMiataCalledSteve :
I found him through Facebook

Thanks a lot, I'll have to get in touch with him.

You're welcome!
Another guy here selling stickers for $90 each, and Hoosier tire south generally has some scrubs floating around.
This is in your neck of the woods and there are a lot of parts on auction. There are springs, and brakes and brackets and pedals and a lot of other things. Not sure what you need but usually some of these auctions go pretty reasonable.

Can't believe that in NC there aren't a thousand short tracks you could visit and ask for takeoffs from teams.
