*holds breath.....
So, it seems through poor decision making on m behalf, this car is getting another run at the challenge. Team self-immolating cornhole was born last night. Stampie, Pimpm3, pete gosset, and other challenge regulars are tangentially teammates to my knowledge. See, what had happened was stampies challenge car turned out to be way too hurt to make the challenge, and plans b-f were about as good an idea as farts with food poisoning. So I jokingly offered the miata. One thing led to another, and stampie is coming up this friday to flat tow the miata to the challenge. I will not be going due to health concerns with the state of the world and my pre-existing conditions and other obligations, but id love to.
Regardless, this car needs another run. No nitrous this time, as its installed in my neon and I dont have time to undo budget breaking stuff AND do a nitrous uninstall and build. And then reinstall. And....
so, the plan to accomplish before Friday:
challenge budget aero install., and uninstall for trip to Florida when stampie gets here so he can see how it works
Uninstall AC, stereo, gauges (maybe), and seats, reinstall kirky and 5 points
put budget legal taillights back in
swap hood back.
Set alignment for extensive flat tow
swap smaller steering wheel back in
pull front wheel liners
find a set of tires to tow it to florida on
stampie will, in florida, align to competition specs, put on race rubber, detail, set up pro driver, and run the challenge.
Hopefully we do ok with a retapped challenge car that is not significantly changed in any way from last year, except for some dialing in!
gonna be a hell of a good time!
Team Self Immolating Cornholes will be fun. I think Michael and I are both a little uncomfortable. He's never had someone else run his car at the Challenge. I've never run a car I didn't build at the Challenge. There's been a lot of talking in the last few days. Unfortunately Pete isn't coming because of work and pimpm3 might have his own car. I think it'll be Lil Stampie and me at the Challenge.
That actually makes me feel like 2015 when I showed up at my first Challenge in a Miata with 7 year old Lil Stampie as my crew chief. One of my favorite Challenge memories was Lil Stampie on the jack while we're changing out tires for autocross. He's throwing all 50lbs into the jack handle but no way would he admit he couldn't do it. Next I remember every berking team walking by asking me if we needed help. I was thinking "Aren't I racing these people?" That's GRM for you. I've come to learn that this is a family. Like any family we all have our little quirks but we're still a family.
I will happily join the team. If you need a not quite pro driver, I am down.
I am already racing a crappy forester I bought last week, but I would love to be part of the self immolating cornhole team.
If you got 15s, I got 245 40 15 tires and know the swap. Plus, ima pretty good auto xer.
When is the challenge, I might being my 4 year old and help....
I'm going to keep my mouth shut, watch from afar, and send all the positive waves I can
good luck y'all!

Im lost. Why keep mouth shut?
Also, im just the builder at this point. Stampie is bossman. So, if you want to join the one night stand with the self immolating cornholes, he takes the application!

He has a history of suggestions to me that make me spend large amounts of time on minor items.

I think we might just use Lil Stampie's inheritance on tires. Challenge is Oct 23rd and 24th. If you want in just call the GRM office and tell them you want on Stampie's team. I think joining the team is free but driver cost something.

I mean, at least I kinda sorta learned the lesson? And Stampie now has a cool limited-use tool in the arsenal?
I reckon the best I can offer to help is via electronic beer monies, depending on the bossman's eBank details and/or interest.

Yup. 2021. Mary wants to wait for ALL the fun stuff of a challenge weekend. Im really ok with that!
I get that! As if 2020 wasn't bad enough, it kept the rotisserie Neon out of the Challenge.
But its the car you want the other 362 days of the year anyway so its still a big win, right?

Quoted for truth! Its probably my favorite fun car right now. Really happy with it!

Do you have the same negative issues with the Neon that you had with my Miata?
In reply to Justjim75 :
So far, not nearly as bad. Still have some issues, but manageable at this time!
