Yesterday we had clunk in the rear that seemed to get worse through the day. This morning while switching to drag tires I checked things out.
That's not good.
Kurt next door had a perfect sized bolt.
Test drive confirms 100% less clunk.

Nylock everything.
12th dynamic. On used up sm7, poor ergonomics with the aluminum seat, and a hail Mary last minute prep.
Im really, really good with that!

Agreed.

I felt bad lining up against Shaun.

I was going against Jonathan's turbo LS RX7 on that one. Once I saw I had him at the 60 I said to myself don't berk up this one. Best run of the day although he walked me with hp right before the 1/8th.

That run wasn't me. It was my dad. Either way, it's a guaranteed way to win even if the diff breaks.
We're home. I can't say enough thanks to Michael. I was honored to run his car and honored to call him a friend. He and I talked about things that could be improved but on the drive home I was thinking that's just chasing the last 1 percent. It's a great car for what he build it and how he uses it. Lil Stampie can now say that he's driven a fast berking Miata even if it was in a totally empty parking lot in first gear and he was afraid of going over 10 mph.
This car just puts a smile on your face. Before we loaded up I did a 1500 to 6000 rpm pull in second gear. It just hits you like a ton of bricks. I think any more power and it would lose that perfect Miata balance. This is now my standard to compare other Miatae to.
It was really a great car to see! The paint looked great and the car really leaped forward on the drag strip. It really looked like a blast to drive.
Here's a video of the best drag run. Obviously there's a bog on launch that I don't remember. Probably needed about another 200 in rpm. But still got a 1.89 60.

That was after about 10 runs. It's a car that's difficult to do everything perfect and everything needs to be perfect for a good run. I might have gotten another 1/10 but I was happy at that point. Plus I wanted to get in concours before everyone else.
So. Car comes back tomorrow. Id like to say that its done with the challenge as it has proven to be consistent bottom of the top 10, and that the changes needed to make it top five would kill it being what I want to own because that is true
However, development with an eye towards buget legality is still a plan. This fall and winter will be spent making it a better street car, and enjoying nice days with the top down.
List as of today:
Reinstall hvac. And make it functional.
3500 upper intake and bigger tb swap for belt clearance and more power
Trying a different ecm to see if i can finally get the o2 to read
Stereo upgrades
Reinstall street equipment
Better lighting
Exhaust that doesn't hit everything and drone like a mofo
Paint rfp1 knockoffs silver.
