Excellent job at collecting tools. What's the going rate up there?

Should i go ahead and have Seth make me #13 meatballs in vinyl?

But im definitely a fan of the harbor freight folding cherry picker.  Grease the casters. A LOT.

As long as you have a way to mask your disappointment *and* turn the 3’s into 8’s, you should be fine.

Better be careful.  Since my mom's been working the docks so long she could kick your old ass.

Nice edit. My mom could still kick your old ass and she's going to be at the Challenge. Will you?  Oh ... and you over paid.

So, I didn’t spend a lot of time or money shopping today, only bolts and washers for the engine stand and a pack of sawzall blades.

I've decided to harvest the C4 frame rails from just forward of the front bar mount to just aft of the suspension crossmember attachments.  I will cut just enough of the Corvair unibody to accommodate this.

I know the C4 isn’t sitting level in my garage, so I went to the Shop Manual to get chassis datum locations and dimensions, and did a little math to figure how not-plumb I needed to make the first cuts so they’ll be plumb when the car is level.  Being smart is awesome.

Then I broke out the Future Hammer recip saw and made the first cuts.

Then I put some of the new tools to work. Cherry picker did it’s thing:

As did the engine stand:

Funny thing about all this is that I didn’t have room to use the cherry picker or the engine stand until I cut off the front rails.

With the engine out, I can see I’ll be spending some more quality time with my bucket of gasoline and cleaning brushes.

Next big milestones will be:

 - clean front suspension and frame

 - cut frame sections

 - remove wiring harness

 - remove rear suspension

 - say goodbye to the C4, kids!

Love the glove on the lines.  Nice touch.

Are you still looking for an Audi manual transmission?

you should ask for number 1.3, since a miata is about 10% as interesting as a Corvair.

Yes, still looking for Audi trans but will probably buy a complete car so i get pedals, clutch master and slave, etc.   plus the added benefit of cash inflow from selling off parts.   i have maxed Challenge recoup already, but it's still nice to have the hobby pay for itself.

The real question is will it place higher in the rankings than a janky corvette with 600 pounds of plywood and cedar tacked on to it?

“When you’ve got 30 minutes, do a 30-minute job.”  - PACC Racing

Cleaning front suspension and crossmember is next on the list, so I jumped in with a putty knife and some newspaper.

Before (above), and after (below):

Then I decided to spend a minute to get some bling going on the aluminum suspension components.

Before (LH above) and after (RH below):

And a little love on the UCA as well.

Before (RH, above) and after (LH, below):

I’m glad to be done with parts sell-off and on to the actual wrench-turning part of the project.  And if you don’t know, you betta axe somebody.
