Thanks for the offer! I'm gonna stay the course for now.
Angry, rule of thumb for hard to reach joints: do the hard parts first, so if you have problems you scrap less time involved
Also, use aluminum foil as a temporary containment/baffle for the shielding gas will allow more stick out on your tungsten. That will help get down into those deep corners.
finished the primary collectors and cut some slip-fit rings from a piece of scrap. I'd love to say everything lines up perfectly but I'm content to say tomorrow I start working on secondary pipes.
Now with 100% more engine between them
I had to bolt them up so I could start figuring out the "2" part of the 4-2-1 headers.

I'm never sure if LK references will land. Good to see you aren't a degen from upcountry
It sounds like i need to try this letterkenny show...
Where? How?
Also, the more i look at the pictures, the more awesome that visual package is! Headers need to get white paint....
The up and away boat headers kinda look like devil horns if your looking from the snout of the crank.

I believe it's on Hulu. I'd recommend turning the subtitles on unless you can speak Northwoods or Yooper decent.

Letterkenny is on Hulu. And I sometimes use subtitles, even after 25 years of going up north for winter test season.

My son got me into LK, you'll either love it or hate it. It definitely has it's moments, the hockey style chirping is hilarious.
In reply to Angry Corvair, I owe you a picture of a classic Corvair. I passed one in my travels last week but couldn't double back to grab one. Engine and header work is looking awesome.

It started as a Youtube show called Letterkenny Problems. Now they've got little snippets from the show on there.
I've always felt like Mid engined Corvair s remind me a lot of inboard boats. I think it's the way the engines sit in the chassis. This is a good reminder, like classy inboard boats like Criscrafts and Mastercraft ski boats. Not trashy like an inboard outboard checkmate or bayliner.
Keep up the goodness.
I love Letterkenny. My wife does not like Letterkenny. We settled it and I do not watch Letterkenny.

I think that's called 'compromise'.
I don't know why I put the primary collectors together the way i did, but it sure did cause me a lot of unnecessary struggle. I did learn from it, though.
Old and dumb:
New hotness:
yes, I know the angle of the top tube into each one is sub-optimal. That was purely driven by needing them to exit under the package tray. By the fourth one, it kinda looked like I knew what I was doing:
I will apply what I learned on these, and the secondary collectors will be dialed on the first try.
