I'm all in on ecoboost now. I cheated and bought a turnkey 2.3 from Mars. No control pack needed.

You have me SO craving a 3D printer!

In part for making little bits and pieces for Porky and my TVR, but there are also plastic pieces disintegrating on my Alfa 164S! It would be so wonderful to just draw something and print it.

Also, I can't tell what's included.  If you need a transmission I've got a stock one that I'd be interested in parting with.

Also: BUILD THREAD!!

Everything possibly needed to start and run. Cracked ECM, throttle pedal, fuel pump, etc, even a SCT X4 included. They say all I need to run it on the pallet is battery and fuel. Expensive, but I paid for convenience.

I skipped the transmission option, they only had MT82s or autos. I'm thinking an NC Miata 5 speed because it fits, or a NC 6 speed to hold the power, but I'd have to cut the trans tunnel.

I suppose build thread could be done. I was going to do one on the 311 forum but those guys aren't that interested unless it's original or at least still Nissan.

BTW, I don't recall what you're doing for a fuel pump, but I found this which I believe will work with the Mustang pump. https://www.supershops.com/products/exhaust/oxygen_sensors_and_fittings/parts/166021ERL

I used a PA-2 fuel pump kit from Tanks Inc.  Super clean kit and very easy to install.

I'm not so sure that's a good idea... maybe TVR zip-tied the brake and fuel lines to the frame to aid in grounding all the electrical!

That's comedy gold right there!

Granted,  i found an engine grounded entirely by the metal fuel line before,  so.....

I believe on British cars, the metal fuel line is technically the auxiliary engine ground, along with the choke cable......

My fuel lines are all rubber.  So I guess I'm berkeleyed.

Does bring up a bit of a question on grounding.  Engine, ECU (already on the harness), gas tank.  What else?

That brings up another question...why the grounding wire on the steering rack?

Going to guess because the horn completes the circuit by going to ground when the horn button is pushed? And the column is rubber mounted maybe?

Id add grounds to everything. If it ground through the housing,  and theres a way to add, i do. I also add a ground directly from the starter bolts to frame, column to frame, battery to block and frame, relays to a common point that has a good size cable straight to battery,  etc.

I go absolutely NUTS with grounds, and make them oversized.

I have NEVER seen an issue caused by too many grounds, and seen a lot of cars finish an event due to redundancy.

More on the remote oil plate.  I did a little refining of the shape:

And (following up on earlier chatter) I added the o-ring grooves to the back:

Fit is a bit better and cleaner.  The fittings point how I want them to:

Lots of clearance now:

Then I did this:

Oh my god, it feels good to have that tucked back in there.  It's been since late March that I've not had room to turn around in my shop.  Sooooooo much better to have some floor space back!

It very likely might come back out again some, but it was really easy to roll it in there.  Also I'm sure I'll have the body on and off a bunch too.  To that end, I rearranged my lifting devices to make that a bit easier.

That does indeed make sense, in a typically British sort of way. And like Duster said, I think grounding everything redundantly, especially with a 'glass bodied car, can only be a good thing!

Took advantage of my newly cleaned up workshop and switched to Machining Mode.  This oil filter adaptor wasn't super complicated, but it ended up being quite a few steps.

After squaring the stock, the first step was machining the "underside".  This was really the outside edge and the o-ring grooves.

I did snap off an old 1/8" end mill - 5 hp spindle-motors tolerate no fools!  But I had a really nice 2.5 mm that I swapped in.  Worked really well on those narrow o-ring grooves.

Next up - profiling the soft jaws to match the outside contour:

In place and running the top side:

And here's the part deburred and cleaned up:

Back side:

I'm very happy with how that turned out.

That is indeed a fine piece of workmanship there! Too bad it's not in a more prominent place in the engine bay.

Yeah.  I definitely could do that.  I've designed/built/marketed products in the past, but in a much more niche market.  I'm not totally sure how to address the deep-ocean of car accessories.

That's a really nice piece of machining, nice work! Maybe start with an Ebay listing to gauge the market?

Great work, that is so much nicer than the remote oil filter adapter that I have had to purchase for my Rovers in the past, which is just a crude casting and machined on one side only. Just one more example of why this TVR will be over the top when it is done!
