And I can bring a bike, too. smiley

This is my retro Skyway.

It's never lost a moto, either. (Thanks, Chelsea.)

Or, if we want to go legit old-school (or mid-school), we can do that, too: Mongoose, DK, Reynolds, MCS. Or another retro bike.

Bigger question: Who do we want for some music that weekend?

I knew you'd show up here to talk BMX. I think we're going to have fun with this.

You guys have me hunting for an old freestyle bike now too, which is the absolute last thing I need...

Here's some more inspiration. There was a weirdly large number of cars with old school BMX bikes at SEMA this year.

Also, should I go all nostalgic and find a GT Dyno like I used to race? Or go more practical and get a 24" cruiser since I have a 38" inseam?

Stopped by the local scrap yard today and they had a Diamond Back Viper sitting off to the side. I thought of this thread since all the talk about old BMX bikes. Did some Google research and it appeared to be a 1984. It was a chrome frame with chrome spoke wheels and appeared to be all original to my very untrained eyes. Decals were blue and not in very good shape. Tried to buy it but guy said it wasn't for sale because he collects BMX bikes.

FWIW, I love my 22-inch BMX: Roomier than a 20 but not awkward like a 24.

I won't be coming to the event but I whole heartedly endorse this! If your talking about BMX and 80's cars then your basically describing my daily life haha!

You know, I haven't seen much that I'd call retro, but look around. I admit that I run a chrome fork as a nod to the past (think Bottema).

Also, it's seriously impressive finished that ride.

I'm in!

This is my 1st decent bike.

Got it on my 11th birthday, 2/10/1982.

Brand new, out of the box, it looked like this:

It was the Montgomery Ward branded Open Road version of the Huffy Pro Thunder Z2 2speed BMX bike.

After many years of storage in a shed with an open bottle of muriatic acid, it was nearly destroyed:

So, to introduce the boy to the idea that there is never really any end to the number of projects you can take on, 'we' are restoring it!

It's amazing how much 30 year old NOS stuff I've dug up on ebay....

Should this have it's own build thread?

If so is there one for bikes?

I'm with you guys in spirit!!!

Also, I drive a singlespeed; but it's got cushy tires and squishy bits...

but I'm 6'6" tall, so I make it look like a BMX.

Y'know, If you ditched all those excessive cogs and sprockets and shifty bits, your carbon hardtail would be even lighter... devil

I always had a bunch of bikes I put together myself from dump bike and friends castoffs. I did have one really nice one that was teal and had full white wheel covers. Cant remember what it was.
