I had an '88 for a brief period. From the outside there was no visible rust…
However, on the inside - we had to fabricate an entire rear deck(which eliminated the rear seats), complete new floor pans from to rear on both driver/passenger sides all the way from the rockers to the tunnel, all-6 body mounts, and two of the tubes that span the frame rails from left-to-right were MIA…including the one on the very front that supports the lower suspension mounts. 
I should have walked away from that project before I started.
