I did it I finally did it! I did a GRM thing. I bought a 1994 Chevrolet Suburban 2500 DIESEL!!!!!!  I freaking love it! It looks to be a decent deal and in decent shape body is straight and it runs stops drives shifts and steers. Not.only that but it is Poop Brown! Inside and out! My plan for it is use it as a tow pig for a trailer I have yet to buy! Mods will include towing stuff upgrades for more safe and reliable POWAH! as well as some interior creature comforts such as a back up camera and TV for the kids! Well that and I need to fix the AC. I have been scouring the forum for tidbits from some of the greats here and I have already learned alot!  I'll be keeping track of costs and whatnot here just like the cool kids do!

So stay tuned as this thread devolves into a really untalented knucklehead attempts to turn an old Suburban into a reliable and relatively safe adventure mobile!

Here are a couple to start out. So im going toctake it to one of the local diesel indy shops and get an inspection and a list of what needs fixing. I've never worked on a diesel. This should be.......interesting

I never knew you could get a 2500 diesel Suburban. Cool rig! I only ever hear mediocre things about the 6.5L, but they seem to be reliable when left stock. And the 4l80 is rock solid of course.

That is a beauty! Did someone take the roof rack off or was that an option? I don't think I see many without it.

I ran the vin and the rpo codes and it doesn't seem to have a roof rack on it and it doesn't look like anyone put one on there. Story goes it sat in someone's carport for 10 years was donated after they died and bought at a charity auction. Guy spit shined it and sold it on.

As far as the motor I am only looking for reliability and the ability to tow a decent travel trailer with my 3 dogs, wife and 2 kids in it.. I  am looking at Heath Diesel's stage 3 towing kit. Here  my goal is to not go nuts and try to stay under 10k total. That budget could go kablooie if I have to buy a new motor. I'm going to try and do as.much as I can myself but we all know the danger there. I'm doing these posts in real time so updates will be slow.

Next step Tuesday inspection and fixing list from the indy

Well I drove it for a while and I love it but I have no time and too many projects, so this has to go.
