I do confess to having trouble bleeding the Hydroboost....

Changed out the wastegate spring today.  Was running a 4lb spring and adjusted the boost tee up to 7psi.  I'm feeling the backpressure is lifting the wastegate?

At any rate, I changed out the spring and zeroed the boost tee so I should be back at 7psi.  Testing.....

Am i correct that hydroboost should operate independent of manifold vacuum? The whole thing is operating on power steering pump pressure, right?

Correct.

Took some rotting lumber to the dump.

Hit 9psi on the way back. Holy giggity goo.

And... the linelock is leaking onto the exhaust manifold, so I'm just going to delete it.

I bought a trailer, since I sold my last one with the matching truck.

It needs some love, but more importantly I need the right length ball hitch.  In this case, that's 14" to clear the sexy bumper.

Mocked up for welding:

And now that I'm making one, I see that they are actually available online....

I also bought the cheapest catch can on Amazon, because I'm pushing oil out of the engine under boost.

Turns out, it's also the smallest catch can. Not really a problem, and it actually works out good, because I altered it to act as a zero-maintenance oil-separator and drain the oil back into the crankcase.

I plugged the "in" port (right) and drilled out the threaded drain on the bottom and welded a -10AN bung so the can is filled from the bottom.  I also welded a -10AN bung on the "out" port (left) which I also ported internally. This is mounted using one of the heater box screws, a bracket, and a hose clamp.  Then I made up new AN breather lines.

Operationally:

"Blow By" gets sucked into the intake manifold at the back of the driver's valve cover.

In order for that air to move, fresh filtered air comes from pre-turbo, through the catch can, and into the oil fill cap on the driver's side.

Under BOOST, a one-way check valve at the intake manifold stops the crankcase from being pressurized.

Crankcase pressure escapes through the -10AN line out the oil cap to the catch can, oil is collected, and theoretically just "blow by" is fed to the turbo and back into the motor.

Off-boost,  collected oil drains back into the engine.

In theory, at least.

I bet you can still do pretty good burnouts without the line lock, yeah?

I never actually used the linelock yet.

I need to find some brake-fluid friendly o-rings to replace the one that burst, but I will experiment with a copper washer under that bottom bolt as well, to see if it'll seal.

Without the linelock, I will say I am very impressed with the General G-Max RS.  They stick.  And the LSD helps.  I've also kept the DBW "actual" throttle pretty tame below 70% pedal to keep it hooking up.

Ive always wondered about DBW...any complaints of "lag" in response?

And sorry if i missed it in the thread, but do you have cruise control functioning? if not, any plans to?

I have all the wires for cruise run for it and everything, I just have not sprung for the switch.

You can tune out a lot of the lag.  If I didn't tell you that it was DBW, you'd never know by driving.

that's great to hear and i appreciate the feedback. Trying to determine if cable or DBW is preferable for my eventual swap

First haul with the "new" trailer.  After it was emptied, I took it into the shop and bgan modifying it.

It was advertised as 4x8' trailer.  But it's actually a 46x93".  It's useless, but not for long, the future is coming on, it's coming on, it's coming on.

This is what has happened with every turbocharged car that I've owned.

Fingers crossed that it's minor...

Some poop came out.

Turns out the engine sucked apart the Edelbrock air filter, the metal cap inside went into the turbo, and I'm hoping didn't do too much damage....

Off to LordCo tomorrow to see if I can get a K&N that DOES NOT have a suckoffable cap inside.

That does seem like a bad failure point on an air filter.

I've heard of turbos sucking up all manner of FOD, but this is the first I've ever seen/heard of one hoovering up the air cleaner...

Glad it wasn't worse.

I went into LordCo with five (5) part numbers, and the only one of K&N they could get, was one with a center cap like this one.  Which looks exactly the same. Even in the exact same packaging. "No thank you."

So....

I ordered a K&N RU-1027 off Amazon (cheaper than Summit Racing!), which will be here on Friday.

Also contacted VS Racing to see if I can get a replacement compressor wheel, but I'm not going to hold my breath.  I can wait until it eats even more stuff, and then just get an updated 7875 at that point.

Nope.  Turns out VS Racing can NOT get me a replacement compressor wheel.

Debating what, if anything, I should do.

I may just try to ignore it.
