3BABY9 hit 47k on our East Coast Tour 2024. Was in DC for my HS reunion. Apparently nobody in my class knew what it was, but they all dug it.
I also made it to a Cars and Coffee at the Greene Turtle in Burtonsville MD. Green E36 M3 in foreground belongs to my longtime friend DJ.

Hey! You went to school with a bunch of old men too!!

Some of those old men have done better than me. The football stadium is named after one of them, and the courtyard outside the cafeteria is named after another. I sponsored one of the reunion parting gifts, so I got that going for me.
Yeah but I never heard of those old men!
At least you're kinda famous on here... near as I can tell!
My comment above regards every time I see a high school classmate (that I recognize), I'm surprised at how old they look!

first hour is free, so it was definitely worth the cost to make a 3BABY9 parking pass.
3BABY9 had a special assignment this morning:

We have no WH in MI, so it's a special day when we make the 60-mile drive to Sylvania OH for that scattered covered chunked and peppered goodness. AK1 and I got our fill of the most consistently OK breakfasts ever.
Another class reunion, another road trip, this time for my graduating class from Catholic elementary school. Then:

and now:

My buddy Bill said this is another "there will be signs" moment. I replied "I don't really fold my hands anymore, if that's what you mean." 🤘🏻
3BABY9 hit 48k on the way down, and 49k on the way home:

In between, I got in a sweet MtB ride at Schaefer Farm Trail in Germantown MD on Sunday:

and did some hill repeats near Harper's Ferry WV on Monday (this is the quickest of 4, with the only rest being the downhill in between):

Full tuck on the way down, RunKeeper says I hit 38 mph but it didn't really feel that fast:

3BABY9 continues to deliver smiles for miles. 10/10, would buy again.
I noticed shortly after purchase that the upper radiator hose was flat, as if it was under vacuum. This is a symptom of a radiator cap allowing flow out to expansion tank as things heat up, but not allowing flow back into radiator as things cool. New cap was $21 with tax, 2 minutes to swap, cooling system now functioning as intended. Old and busted:

New hotness:

And today she got fresh oil and filter, and I installed the winter tires. 3BABY9 is headed for winter storage, but she'll be ready to go in case the Saab or Odyssey E36 M3 the bed.

49,531 miles. I love this car.
I can't believe I missed it

Time for new summers on the front. Moving one old tire to a different rim and keeping it as the spare. Notes on each tire (2 scrap, 1 keep as spare) and on each rim. I hope they get it right. Guys at tire store said they appreciated the instructions on the wheels and tires. Shown below is the original spare, dated 31st week of 2016. Prior to the crash last summer, it had never been on the car. I know I'm losing some future Pebble Beach cred by scrapping it, but that's a price I'm willing to pay.

Gave them a good scrubbing before applying the instructions:

Before and after of fronts above, and rears below:

Dust from OE pads is prolific. I'll probably throw in the updated formula Brembo pads while I've got the wheels off.
New front tires, attempt 1: hey, that tread pattern is not PS4 Summer. Nope, those are all seasons, and are for sure not going on my car.
Attempt 2: awwww yeah!

So I attacked the swap one corner at a time, and installed the Brembo Prime "low dust" pads at the same time. The OE pads are Ferodo HP1000, which is a formula that's been around for a long time. It's got very consistent output vs temperature, but OMG the dust. Calipers were filthy with pad dust:

so I gave them a good shot of brake cleaner and wiped them down. If Mika Hakkinen stopped by, he would have agreed, "was good result."

I think I spent about 5 hours start to finish. And yes, I did install new pads in a different formulation on my existing rotors. I'll have to go to the tire store and get them to link the LF tire pressure sensor to the car, because the wheel that was on LF is now the spare. I'll also have to get a bottle of DOT4 so I can flush clean fluid through the system the next time I have the wheels off.
SSheila's got just a tad over 50k on the odo, and the honeymoon continues.

damn it feels good to be a gangsta.

And if you zoom in, you'll see all the center caps are properly oriented relative to the valve stems:

Cap to stem with cap oriented to 6:00 position.
I'll have to try that level of OCD.

If I mounted the tires myself, I would have centered Michelin on the valve stem as well. Because my buddy Jay would notice.

Dang, I gotta step up my game.

Like Molly Hatchet says in Flirtin With Disaster, "It ain't for everybody."
