Can't freaking believe the challenge is next week already ... We are frantically trying to finish up the car. We have 217 hours working on the car so far. Things are coming together well, but I can tell you for SURE we will NOT be biting off this much next year! Got the steering figured out, it took a chain drive and a 90 degree gear to get back to the rack & pinion since we were in front of it. Once we knew it would steer, we tackled the wiring harness, fabbed the cage, and painted the chassis. The body is complete, but you'll have to wait for the challenge to see that. This pretty cool. I don't know if you have thought of this, have the time or budget, but I believe a watts link would eliminate any sideways movement from the drivetrain. Just my .02. Good luck!

What type of retention do you have on the engine from moving forward if you hit the wall front end first?
Clearance between the front of engine and seat?
How much leg protection do you have in place?
Triangulation back to hard points?
This is bananas.

I think the answer to all of those questions is "almost none."

It.....it looks like a death trap. Huge fun, but hitting anything with the front end will be very bad. Somehow I feel like you'd be safer lapping the track on a sport bike.

If you look at some of the picture above you will see PLENTY of 1x4s with two or three nails holding the brake booster and providing a front crumple zone...jeees
