ugh, that sucks. Didn't it just go in for something else too?

Yeah. It's been a really fun money pit.
At least my 21yo truck still works...everything else (6) is broken or (1) in winter storage.
Not sure what to do about the car situation right now.
Mk8R is $47k but with a 6spd. Still, ouch.
OK, so the Porsche is hurt and now the Golf is hurt so I am left with no decent performance cars.
But wait!
I may have an ace up my sleeve, or wardrobe...:
In reply to preach :
At least your sense of humor is undamaged. Sorry about the Golf, that sounds...expensive.
In reply to 11GTCS :
Miles for smiles? I am so far ahead on every car I have owned.
Seems it's reset time anyways.
I did what every good mechanic does to their own car and let the Golf sit for a few days.
It's hurt. Bad.
Starts up fine, makes boost, smokes like a MFer, breaks up like that girl in high school.
Probably check the plugs to see what's up. Probably jack it up to see how bad any rust is. Consider a used motor or what ever I need to do.
Mrs. p and I really do not need another car as I have my Taco to drive in the winter, but damn an 350awhp car is fantastic. I really don't want to buy a replacement (GR Corolla?).
My current feeling is instead of leveraging $45k for a 3cyl I might as well say berkeley it and put snow tires on the Cayman until I wreck it or it dies. Not only would it be a mind berkeley to people I know, but I have a feeling a mid engined car in the snow might be fun as berkeley.
Any guesses what a 2012 Golf R with a salvage title and a blown motor will sell for?

i'll start the bidding at ONE DOLLAR.
After a bit I may have just lost the turbo. It's cool enough to do that and the clutch plus maybe some refreshining...
Lazy mother berkeleyer this weekend, it was nice too but I hung out with the Mrs and the pups. Mrs bday was Friday.
914 is covered with a chinesium cover. What's it gonna do? Rust? Haha.

Just shook hands for $4500 as is, where is. I am OK with that. Now I don't have to rebuild it and can focus on the Cayman and Opel.

Looking forward to the Opel shenanigans...
Thank you.
Me too on the Opel. Ever know someone starting an Opel project by looking for a Porsche 944?

Some say: "GRMers are enablers."
All I know is: "If they can do it, so can I."
Nice day.
making 6 tabs for 2 amber and 2 white lights for the front of my truck and 2 white for the rear.
stoner metal cranked and about to do some CAD work for a light tab.
Zen in the shop yesterday. Painful install though...drilling, grinding, 3 dead dremels, one snap marching up the driveway to buy an m12 cordless die grinder, rat tail file, welding, satisfaction.
