Paint. Stripes say there's some bite under the hood and a v6 convertible just doesn't live up to the expectation :)

Since you are selling, I'd go with paint, not stripes, since stripes may turn off some buyers, and those who want stripes can always add them after purchase.

Dude! took you long enough to show up in this thread. Sure send her my way, I'm almost done with contract at this job and will be going into full restoration mode then. Finishing up this Mustang, finally starting on the C6 Vette, then getting back to the Daytona, eventually.

But I thought your 'stang was pretty well done?

NO stripes. Car looks great. I have to go now, need to surf Craig's for bargain convertibles.

I don't even like convertibles, but now I want one.

I have to say, I've never been a fan of them, but after having this one and riding with the top down, I'm kicking myself for not getting one earlier. This spring is turning out to be pretty awesome convertible weather around here.

Hell I had the top down in when it was 40* outside and had the heater on blast.

I thought I had already posted in it, too. I think I just have it opened on a tab somewhere ready to paste into the wheeler dealers thread. Great job though! I'm really digging this one.

And no, my car needs all the little cosmetic stuff. There's red paint showing all over, the seats are trashed, the carpets a mess, the radio doesn't work, and it has no truck liners. I'm sure you could make a tidy profit on it (or throw all the goods into the Daytona...)

I've got that SN95 that's going to be an engine donor for the Daytona. I might have some of the parts you need. Get me a list and I'll see what I got.

I know it has a Mach 1 center console and the guy replaced the carpet in it before I got it.

But really SN95 parts like that should be a dime a dozen in the U-Pull lots around you.

Everything up here suffers from the same interior issues, mold and green stuff. One little bit of water intrusion makes your car an instant petri dish.

Front LCA braces are available now too, prolly not needed tho.

I have done extensive testing on the S197 platform with various vendors' products, including three different strut braces.

They make almost no difference. They may make a small improvement on a convertible because of the lack of a roof, but I would hardly call a strut brace a transformative mod on the S197 platform, which has a very high structural rigidity.

I've pretty much decided it's a flipper, it won't be a big haul, but I should at least break even on the money side.

I like it, but it's not hitting all the right buttons for me, it's close, but I've still got the automotive A.D.D. thing pretty bad (hey, I made it 4 months DDing it it). Plus I put more money into this than I had planned originally so I need to recoup some of those funds for the Corvette. So if you know anyone that wants a cherry S197 droptop..

SR Performance CM strut tower brace was my first bolt-on on a stock '05 GT. Significant enough improvement that I'd do it again for a buck fifty. First noticed improvement was only changing lanes at highway speed, more so w/ a uh, spirited lane change, corners were better too even w/ stock suspension and 235's. Paid off later too w/ suspension drop and 255 Nitto's. I'm stickin' to it, stock or mod, wouldn't do a build w/o one.

Brace is here: http://www.americanmuscle.com/black-strut-brace-2005.html

Over 100 customer reviews with a 4.8/5 rating. Handling improvement, yes.

I'd add the Steeda rear shock tower X-brace but it won't fit w/ my Shaker 1000 sub. I'd even fab one but I'll be selling shortly.

Rather have it than not, I'm a believer.

Time flies guys, I hadn't realized it's been 2 months since I did something with this car. Been enjoying the top down life this summer. But it's time I got back to work on this car and the updates.

When we last left off I was waiting for the new upholstry to come in, and after a long wait it finally did. So these past coupel evenings I've been busying myself getting the kit installed.

I started with the rear seat as it would probably be the easiest and if I didn't get it done in before the next day it wouldn't be a big deal.

Removal is quite easy. Just unclip the bottom section and lift up on the front to remove. The rear section has 2 bolts securing it to the car and then just slides up to unclip and remove.

I setup a clean table in the middle of the garage, I wanted plenty of room to work around and not dirty up the new upholstery. I started witht he upper rear section.

It's not as bad as the lower section but you can clearly see where the previous owner was a smoker and the part under the seat belt wasn't as darkened.

The cover is clipped onto the seat back all the way around.

I removed the baby seat hooks first, use a small flathead to pry the center pin out.

Then use a trim tool to start the removal of all the clips.

Start at the corners and just peal it back once all clips are undone.

This was a pleasant surprise. I thought it would be hog rings all over, but it was just velcroed in.

In no time you'll have a foam insert ready to reskin.

I started by laying the new stuff on top and pulling it over the top edge.

Then pulled it tight and clipped in the top clips.

After it was clipped in at the top I flipped it over and made sure to line up the velcro again.

Clipped in the sides and bottom next.

and reinstalled the hooks.

Then I had half a rear seat done! Woohoo!

The bottom rear was next. It was the same deal as the top and went smoothly.

Nasty old seat.

Lots of clips to remove on this one, just make sure you line them all up again when you put the new cover on.

Lower seat foam all ready for new upholstery.

And Done.
