Very cool! I once found a thread on someone swapping the drivetrain from a Focus ST into a Transit Connect van. The thread went dead when it seemed very close to completion. Doing that swap has been a pipe dream of mine since.
I like wear your head is at. This will be fun to watch.
I love this. I believe that the Honda odyssey (especially the 2nd generation) is objectively one of the greatest cards ever made.
I occasionally think about hopping mine up, but it's the family truckster for the time being.
Looking forward to see the interior bits. Did these ver come with a manual anywhere else in the world?

My wiki searches show across the globe all Odyssey generations had an automatic. I know there was a Lemons van with a TL Type-S transmission at some point. I'm curious if the shifter from a 02-05 Civic Si could be adapted to work, for a dash mounted shifter.
Interesting. 6 puck clutch and lightweight flywheel on an otherwise stock 17 year old underpowered van?
Having owned an 3rd gen Odyssey (I hated it), I can't think of a time when I wished it was a manual except when climbing long mountain grades, and that's only because of Honda's awful transmission shifter/programming* But if there are other plans to follow, this could be entertaining at least. The onelap entries were often pretty neat.
*Its impossible to get a 3rd gen to hold 4th gear. Normal = up to 5th. O/D lockout = up to 3rd.
2nd gen odyssey's were all auto's, and all junk. You can pick these vans up for nothing because of it and J35's are a dime a dozen in junkyards for the same reason.
I'm going to use the folding center console top as the base for the shifter, and draw up a laser / formed aluminum base to powdercoat and mount all of it to.
The puck clutch is because of Vandemonium stage 2- I've got an assortment of Chinese accord turbo piping and a chinesium GT35 to go on it. Plan is to use a leftover AEM standalone that I had around from another abandoned project on this van. Shooting for 400-450 atw but will see. Need to get the MTX swap done first, baby steps.
Flywheel and are clutch in! Guess what, you have to use a 12pt 17mm socket to get the flexplate bolts off and the longer flywheel bolts on..... had to go buy a set.
Awesome! I've done 5 auto to manual swaps (2 on minivans!) and never regretted a single one. It was usually the single best mod i did, in fact.
