So the car is home after a crappy weather trip back from LA to Omaha. In the 1800 miles of fun, I was able to determine a few needs.

The Brakes. I have a very particular feel I like in my performance cars and this had the wrong pads in it for that feel. So time to call Project MU and get a set of the B-Force pads for all 4 corners.

It's really a simple swap with the Brembos but while I was in there, I chucked the drilled and slotted rotors for a set of Centric High Carbon Rotors.  I have never been a fan. It's now how I like it to brake.

The bigger thing was there was an ACD fault that came up after a bit of driving on the highway ride home. I hooked up the Evoscan for the last few trips and it hasn't come back. There was a code that came back for a wheel sensor originally. I tested them and they came back fine. So we will monitor and see if it comes back.

Then I fixed a design flaw where the antenna hits the spoiler when the trunk is fully open. There is now a 4" stubby antenna there so I no longer have that issue.

Only other thing to do is the rear shocks. They are gone and I knew that buying it. So time to replace those once I get the track car out of the garage.

Weird about the faults They are gone?  needed a reset?

I like the oem antennae

then again original owner and I never used the trunk

There are threads on ACD fluid and it needs 2 people to reset info on evo forums

Yeah not 100% sure what is going on. Nothing is really pointing in a direction. I've got a 2 hour road trip this weekend and I'll be datalogging the whole time. If something is there then I'll see it.

So got some free time to attack the rear shocks on the evo. I have to say it took me longer messing with the pins in the trunk to release the carpet than it did to change them.

So why were they on my list? Well when hitting bumps with the rear the car was doing some really funky things. It felt like it was hitting the bump stops hard. So i got in there and took the one i thought was the issue and pulled it first. Sure enough. It was toast. It was only going through about an inch and a half of travel and then I couldn't push it any more. I felt like there was an internal restriction with the shock piston. So 2 new bilsteins got installed and the test drive confirmed it. This is the evo I remember.

In reply to nsxmr2elises2000 :

Actually I don' t think that was true because 3 clips were broke and 1 was missing. Someone had been in there before.

On the good news side, No additional ACD errors after running to Lincoln today so I'm going to say that there is nothing really happening there and will not worry about it for now.

So what's the next plans for the Evo?

Well basically just enjoy it. Everything that I wanted to do is now done. I'll do an oil change in a couple weeks but I have to put the engine back in the Miata and a few other things first and it's not needed just yet so all good.

I think it's perfect as is and I'm just going to have it as my summer good weather daily driver. I'm not one to park cars and not use them. They should be exercised and this one will be. There will definitely be a trip to the Ozarks for some good driving in captain Awesome's back yard this summer.

All and all, It's now the evo I remember and wanted for years.
