I am really trying to stay away from another northern rust bucket underneath. I've still got an axle rusted to the hub sitting in the corner of the garage to remind me. I'd love something like the C10 where it's older but not rotted away

I've been under a rock and hadn't heard of the Sundae Cup. This seems really neat. I just skimmed the rules and to me, it seems like any drivetrain layout is kosher, so long as it meets the power/weight rules?
In reply to bobzilla :
Columbus wouldn't be as rusty as Cleveland but it would be exactly as rusty as Indianapolis.
In reply to The_Jed :
That's how the rules are set right now. I would not count in that staying the same for future years.

And we are looking to replace her garage kept Sierra because it's rotting away.
In reply to bobzilla :
You discounted 1st gen because hard to find and bolt pattern. But you were going to swap spindles on that one that you didn't end up getting anyway..... would a 1st gen work ok if you swap hubs and or spindles??
In reply to jfryjfry :
First gen also had 90hp. There was the rare GT with a dohc 1.5 that made 100 but those were very very rare. Light weight is important but there needs to be some power to move it. It's also why I'm ignoring 2000-2002 sohc alphas. Great transportation and durable engine but the NEED to turn off ac to get to highway speeds or pull out in traffic isnt fun
the other issue is parts availability is already getting harder for the second gen. First gen is just gone.
There's a ton on Facebook marketplace around here. I can try to get eyes on this weekend if one fits tge bill.

I'm just not seeing crap
There are a ton of Accents in the MD/DC/NoVA area. I can start searching around.
In reply to bobzilla :
Huh? Not understanding what you typed, but im running sleep and caffeine deprived.
I typed Hyundai accent in and got a ton. Screenshot of just now.
I saw a ton in the DC area as noted until I turned on the MT filter. Is that required?

YEAH. They are complete dogs and not worth my time with 2 pedals. I can find hundreds of autos dirt cheap.

Dirt cheap enough to go about swapping a manual and end up ahead?
In reply to Dusterbd13-michael :
I'm looking for 2003-2010 (2nd and 3rd gen), hatchback manual trans under $2500. Not a single one of those come close to what I am trying to find. The ones you're showing are 4th gen. I already have one (rio) and they have terrible trans ratios and are about 300-500lbs heavier and obviously way more expensive. Trying to build a throw away race car for $4k TOTAL, including suspension, maintenance, brakes and engine hopups. I can get all those things for about $2k, so I'm left with $2k for the car.
Think Budget price, plus a budget price for hte build.

no because I'd need two cars to make it work. Different harnesses, ECU's etc. I just sold something that needed that level of work to finish because I'm not getting that involved.

I was thinking a totaled one for the parts car.
I get the not getting that involved, though.

That's the Same color mine was.
I know you hate the idea.. But I've seen a lot of $2000-3000 first and Second Gen Honda Fits in the last few weeks. Ask Miata and S2000 drivers, at events there is something to be said for having the same car that 35 other people brought spares for.

I would rather cut off my arm and feed it to my wife.
So I started my automotive competition things in 2007 with the wrong car in the wrong class. I found a place with others doing the same and had fun. I'm not trying to win. I'm trying to bring to light that this isn't still SpecFit. There are other cars just as good. The Rio is as good, I'm not a good driver and I stay on the wrong tires.
The Fit has already been figured out . the formula already exists. Where's the fun in that? No experimenting no doing something different that first time. No thank you. I revel in my oddness and prefer to buck the system.
Starting to wane on this a little. Thinking about other things I can purchase.
Finally downloaded my photos from NVUS from the SCCA time trials a Gingerman. Heres a few highlights:
