M1A1 ABRAMS TANK-TRACK DRIVEN, HYDRAULIC MOTORS, TWO MAN OPERATION
(A driver and gunner). This is not an R/C Model or toy. This is a fully
operational 1/2 scale copy of the famous Abrams M1A1 tank used
extensively in Desert Storm and purchased by our allies around the
world. This tank is painted in the Marine Corp/Navy woodland camouflage
pattern of black, khaki, and green
DIMENSIONS:
13' long X 4' high X 6' wide(15' long counting the cannon). It is 1/2
scale to the full-size military Abrams(26"L X 8"H X 12' W). Weight is
approximately 1.3 tons.
DRIVE TRAIN:
The engine is an electric start twin cylinder Kawasaki gas engine of
23Hp. The 5-gallon aluminum gas tank is large enough to run all day. The
engine belt-drives two hydraulic pumps, one for each track. Each track
has it's own independent hydraulic motor. This allows the tank to turn
and drive like the original. Maximum speed is approximately 6 miles
/hour, but may be increased by easily modifying the size of the pulleys
in the drive system. Tank can climb a 60% grade at about 1MPH.
CREW
1 Driver, 1 Turret/Gun operator:
DRIVER enters through the turret and slides down into the seat. The
driver's seat then electrically moves forward so the driver sits in the
correct position in front of and below the turret. The driver's controls
consists of the two sticks that operate the hydraulic tracks, the
starter, throttle, choke, and back-up camera.
GUNNER sits in the turret in a seat that rotates with the turret so he
is always looking in the direction of the barrel. The gunner controls
the elevation and rotation of the turret, the on-board compressor and
the loading and firing of the cannon. The turret turns electrically
driven through 270 degrees to the right and over 90 degrees to the left.
The barrel raises and lowers electrically from 0 degrees to 35 degrees
elevation. The 3-inch barrel shoots T-shirts or anything else you can
fit into the breach. The on-board compressor makes 125 psi so the tank
is self-contained and can shoot T-shirts all day long. No waiting
between rounds as there is a storage tank, as well as blow-down tank for
continuous firing. Range(T-E36 M3s are relatively light)is 40 yards.
Heavier items will go further. The cannon is breach loading, so no need
to get out of the tank to load and shoot. The turret can be rotated 270
degrees so the cannon can be "trailed" realistically over the rear of
the tank.
CONTROLS:
The tank has switches for the headlights, a back-up camera, interior
lights, power take off, and the 5KW inverter. There are also pre-wired
switches(spares) if you want to add accessories like a P/A system, horn,
radio, or whatever.
CONSTRUCTION :
Custom welded 1-1/2" square steel tube frame. The skin and hatches are
all aluminum. The body and turret are water-proof so the tank can be
washed like a car. All hatches are lockable to eliminate unwanted
access. The Track is made of aluminum with pads of non-marking HDPE. The
gun barrel is PVC. Exterior hardware is stainless steel. Construction
was completed at the end of 2018. One year to build, by an M1A1 engineer.
USES:
There is nothing else like this anywhere. Always a big hit at car shows,
military shows, memorials, and holiday events. It is a great promotional
item if you sell T-shirts or would like to make money shooting T-shirts
at football games, parties, car shows, military functions, etc. The
builder/owner has used it at similar events and won several awards while
honoring our military. An engine manual, and 8 page operating manual are
included. Also, there are 5 boxes of spare parts, molds, plans, paint,
etc included. This is a one-of-a-kind.
