I've been eyeing those engine trans combos since junkyard takeouts are pretty cheap right now.
Wow, that seems cheap. If there was no insurance then there should be just minor affect to future CarFax, just a police report of accident. It should not be "totaled" as in insurance thought it was too expensive to fix. A quick look at KBB gives a $13k private party value for a car like this.
The mesh grille added implies that the car has been driven after the accident. Boy, if I were close, I'd buy this whole car. OF course, I'd want to first see more than the poor pictures he's posted.
Quick search and I found a whole front clip, already in black for $3k. My guess is it doesn't need a whole clip. If I could sell off one headlamp, they are $300 each
Wow. Lots of potential there, but the sketchiness factor is pretty high.
I'm kind of baffled by why he's parting it out and not fixing it and selling it for way more.

Couldn't afford insurance. Probably can't afford repairs either, especially now facing some legal ramifications.
Sketch...does he really hold free and clear title on the car?
If it was closer I could go check it out. It's @ 100 miles away.

I’m not a betting man, but I’d give high odds it has a salvage title. In AL that can get expensive to put back on the road legally
But for the challenge? Wish I had some play money!
He didn't click the box that says "Clean Title". If he couldn't afford insurance, perhaps he couldn't afford the DMV fees either (not legally his, sketchy paper trail?)
But for $2500 I would remove the body and sell it for whatevers; shorten-narrow stuff up and make the world's bitchinest Lotus 7.
I asked him if it has a title. Here's what he said:
Sure and it’s clear and drivable but side airbags went off and seat belts don’t work till reprogrammed The car still drives very good. It is my daughters and she only had liability insurance. I gave her my car to use as I have truck also. All tires are almost new.
