It's official, I'm selling the FRS. $25k located in NW Arkansas.
Thread for the build -- HERE
Cliff notes:
This is a CLEAN TITLE 2014 Scion FRS VIN JF1ZNAA1XE8708471 with a Honda k24a2 swap. All of the Subaru fa20 “unreliability” has been removed and replaced with a higher revving and higher power potential platform. Based on other dyno figures of a similar swap this car should net roughly 230 to the rear wheels with room to grow vs. the stock fa20. The swap was done using the best components and kit available on the market with ~18k trouble free miles since the swap. I would drive this car anywhere without hesitation. Tons of hours have been invested in making this swap comfortable on the street as well as highly capable on track or at autocross.
The k24 installation was performed with 99531 miles on the chassis in December of 2021 using the Complete KPower 86 swap kit including their A/C kit and an Exedy clutch. Current mileage is 117410 with a fresh Mobil 1 5w30 Advanced synthetic oil change and Mobil 1 filter. Trans and differential fluid were refreshed at time of the swap. The donor for the k24a2 was a 08 Acura TSX with higher miles but currently shows 210, 205, 205, and 210 on a compression test cold. One of the best benefits of this swap would be the integration of the stock CANBUS system and the Haltech Elite 1500 ECU. They work flawlessly together but also give you an opportunity to adjust or tweak tuning with a few minutes on the laptop. Many hours have been spent running logs and making adjustments via myself or tuner to extract power as well as being able to handle mundane daily driving. A 50 degree timing gear as well as the k20a2 oil pump has been installed to improve timing adjustments but also allow higher RPM revs with adequate oiling. The exhaust is a full stainless 3” catless setup that is mild at idle and low RPM for daily driving but comes alive when given higher revs. The differential has been swapped from the stock 4.10 gear ratio to a 4.30 from a 2017 GT86 for a little more pep off the line. The original 4.10 setup can be included with the sale uninstalled if you would like.
The body and paint while not perfect are in excellent condition for its age. The trunk has a couple rub through points shown in pics however another trunk with matching paint and factory spoiler can be included with the sale. The wing is a Sard carbon fiber replica. Fender garnish trim from a 2017 GT86 has been installed and painted black. The lower portion of the front bumper has a couple scrapes from a concrete parking barrier but is only seen from a lower perspective. The driver’s side fender has a small ding and some paint flake shown in pics. Headlights are Winjet JDM with a Morimoto HID kit. The DRL function is also set to activate in HI/LO. Fog lights are OLM Vision LEDs set to activate with HI/LO switch. I also have a set of OEM JDM HID headlights uninstalled that can be included in the sale.
The interior has somewhat rare Release Series 1.0 FRS front seats installed. After install the airbag light came on the dash and I have yet to investigate what the cause is. The airbag in the seat, dash, etc. are all intact so maybe it just needs paired with the system via Techstream. Other lights on the dash are from the Trac-Box which automatically engages the “pedal dance” upon start up. This mode essentially shuts off all traction control from the OEM system. If you are uncomfortable with this setup, I can easily remove it and it will go back to stock traction control until prompted via the “pedal dance” or more intrusive factory TC button. Most of the stock silver interior trim items have been replaced with black OEM JDM items including the shifter knob. The rear-view mirror has some delamination of the glass reflective material around the edges. The whole replacement for a good used one is about $40; however I keep forgetting to order one. Audio has been massively improved with an OEM Audio Plus system tuned for the Bespoke factory head unit with the trunk mounted 8” subwoofer and amp. It can also be easily removed when trying to shed weight for an autocross or track day.
Suspension consists of the tried-and-true Counterspace Garage Spec Tein Flex A coilovers which can be adjusted for either party mode or street comfort with the turn of a knob. Rear lower control arms are SPL (NOT SPC) with the ability to lock in camber without fear of slipping adjustment under load. Rear toe arms are adjustable Verus units. Steering rack lockdown brackets from Perrin have also been installed. The rear sway bar is slightly larger 16mm from the 2017 and up GT86 for a more neutral driving feel with Whiteline adjustable sway bar links. New Centric blank rotors and Carbotech 1521 brake pads were installed at the same time as the k24. Wheels are Ambit RE02 18x9.5 with Michelin Pilot Sport 4s installed in September of 2022. These are excellent tires for daily duty but also pack a punch for autocross or track work.
I am happy to answer questions about this car to SERIOUS BUYERS so please be considerate and only inquire if you have cash ready to buy. CARFAX report can be sent to any interested parties as well as better quality photos or videos. CLEAN ARKANSAS TITLE in my name ready to sign over. This car has been my daily driver until recently with a new toy purchase. It’s by no means perfect but I believe it to be in excellent shape based on age and miles. I’ve tried to include all the little things I can think of that would be worth mentioning as best as possible. I’m not in a rush to sell but hate to have it just sitting. NO TRADES OFFERS PLEASE unless it’s 95 percent cash and the trade itself isn’t a project. That means no rust and no mechanical work required.
