This was 8 year old Patrick's dream car, turns out it's not 44 year old Patrick's dream car. Car was off the road due to a front end tap in 1973 until last fall.

build thread: https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/build-projects-and-project-cars/i-did-a-thing-involving-an-iconic-car/145786/page1/

quick rundown:

1999 LS1 with comp cam/pushrods. Unknown miles but appears low, I ran this engine in my impala prior to putting in the 57.

2003 4L65e with 26k miles and a new FTI 3200(i think, can check) stall converter.

narrowed 9" ford with 3.25 gears and a rebuilt locker. Speedway motors axles and disc brake kit.

tubular front control arms, coilovers, disc brake conversion

Triangulated 4 link rear with bilstein coilovers

nicopp brake lines, power conversion

tanks inc efi tank with an fittings and line tank to engine.

49k mile body with not a lot of rot. Some on left quarter(also has bondo in it) and the back of the trunk, needs a couple floor to rocker supports fixed. Any metalwork I did is in the build thread.

it's a running driving car that needs sorted:

Computer needs tuned properly including setting the tach and speedo outputs right.

trans started leaking in the 2 years it sat between being run

pinion seal dribbles

needs rear tires, i think. It has drag radials that I do not trust

there is no grill or oem front bumper, as that all didn't come with the car

Needs driver's door glass

have extras(lots of misc, original gauges, hood, core support, original rear axle) to go with along with some vintage roadside assistance items.

Thanks, David. It both stings and is a little bit of a relief to list it. The Skyline and Wartburg bring me more joy to drive and this thing will just sit. After bringing it back to life, it does not deserve that fate.

also incoming forum dm's do not seem to work on my end but sent ones do so if anyone has any interest drop a note and i'll reach out on my end

Update: significant price drop because i had someone elsewhere interested at 20 and then he ghosted me. I would much rather sell something here for less than deal with non GRM people if possible.

Gonna try one more time to keep it in the GRM family before we go hard at facebook/cl and a bunch of morons offer me a rusty but trusty 2003 cavalier and $500.

$11k, partial trades accepted if I'm getting at least a good amount of cash out of the deal so I can pay for my house for the next 6 months. I do not have it in me to get it the last 10% of the way to being a great driver, I've emotionally moved on.

things I need: rear sump 2jz oil pan, CF hood and rust/dent free hatch for my son's bugeye wagon

I followed your build from the beginning and always thought this was just really cool.
I'm definitely interested.  I saw you mentioned PMs don't work for you,  so shoot me an email at cottonyzf at gmail when you get a chance.

In reply to Cotton :

Sent you my number. Funny timing, working on it today removing the experimental clear, which has thinned and yellowed. It's coming right off back to factory paint no problem, and I'll have it done next week. Going out of town tuesday or it would be done sooner

Bringing this one to a close.  My buddy Marsden (current owner of Fergus the wagon) met up with Patrick and XLR99 and picked up the 57.  Very very cool car,  Patrick did a hell of a lot of work to it and I'm really pleased with it.  Would definitely buy from again. We were in a bit of a rush because we were trying to get back in one day,  and did end up rolling in just after 1am,  so not a lot of pics.  Here she is loaded up and heading home.  I'm really looking forward to finishing this one up and cruising in it.  I also have a 56 that is an old school build,  so will be fun to compare the two.

Wow that's a heck of a long day! Nice to meet you both and have faces to put with screen names.  I did search out the Fergus thread while you were heading back south last night!

You'll need to log in to post.
