Nice! Not sure if I can get my act together well enough to get that, but I'm a gonna try. I'm only about 3 hrs SW of that...
I'm not at all familiar with the American - is it the same front half as a mini? I would hope a bit larger, but don't have a clue.
I've always like the mini, but never did any research on 'em, nor touched a wrench to one. I have had to deal with "the prince of darkness", but also have avoided witsworth fasteners; I assume this is loaded with all the Brit fun stuff!

I like these - lack of title hurts us in Illinois. Automatics blow - you might have a fun car if fixed up.

Surprisingly to me it came standard with the auto.

Were is some more info
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMC_ADO16
USA version has 1275cc motor and Auto trans but you could order a stick
In reply to californiamilleghia :
I think all the 980cc Mini Cooper guys grabbed all the Austin America manual trannys engine/trans since it was 1275cc.
So, does anyone know if the front half is the same as a mini? As in parts interchangeable without modifying? 310s post implies it may?
Not sure, but certainly related to the Mini, and I think a little bit bigger. I seem to recall these were 1100cc? My dad (a mini guy) called them "land crabs" FWIW.
In reply to ae86andkp61 (Forum Supporter) :
That would certainly need some farther clarification!
Ooop; sorry to confuse things, but I just got clarification, and there were apparently three BMC FWD cars that were related, and scaled versions of each other, all with wheels pushed to the corners and Issigonis input. The Mini was the small one, the 1100 (as seen here) was a little bigger, and the "Land Crab" was even a little bigger, with a transverse BMC B 1800cc engine, similar to the MGB unit, only sideways and FWD.
In reply to ae86andkp61 (Forum Supporter) :
Cool. Reading a bit on the AD016, it is listed as the body being the same height as the mini, but 10" wider! Shared engines (and apparently transverse transmissions) but wider chassis. And with more weight, was considered quite a slug.
What was the larger one; Other than it's nick name?
EDIT: google found the ad017 under landcrab!!!
In reply to 03Panther :
Sounds like you found details, but dad reports they were called Austin 1800, Morris 1800, and some sort of Wollseley model as well.
I think I am glad for my own sake 1. That this car is 10hours away from me and 2. There is not a title.
Otherwise I really really like it. Seems like a great price too. Goodluck with sale.
Did 03Panther claim this, or do I still have to day dream about trying to go grab it?
I'm still not sure if I can pull it off, but am wanting to. So it's still fcfs, if anyone has a plan for it!
I have not contacted him directly, yet... I knew I couldn't get up there to see it this weekend. New job will be sending me to SC for some training soon, but that might be too long, so it'll probably be it's own trip.
FYI: There are kits to swap a Honda B-series 4 cyl engine. Unfortunately, the prefab kits aren't cheap...but this is an innovative group...so I'm sure there's a challenge-friendly way to make this fun. I presume a motorcycle engine swap is much more common on these cars.
In reply to Hoondavan :
I don't know Honda speak well enough to know what engines are what, and would not get able to afford expensive swap parts
Would be nice to have modern running gear in a cool old car, though.
Stock and slow would be fine with me, but now that I'm old and fat, I gotta have AC ; otherwise, a bike-swap would be my taste!
Great googly moogly that's glorious. Please someone buy this. The last time I saw something that exited me like this I drove 19 hours each way to Maine..
In reply to nocones :
The drive will not be bad for me; I have the truck and trailer to get it with, as well. I just gotta get a few things 'round here taken care of before I approach SHMBO with the plan.

I was not familiar with the mini's big brother, till I saw this... but I really like the look. Will just have to convince SHMBO'd that retrofitting ac will be easy...
Want want want and I'm very close by. I have no where to store it...
Got in touch with the seller, who is a very nice guy and quality GRMer. I am in the middle of project Lotus Europa and still have to sort out my hot rod, so I'm not sure when I'll get to this one. Driveway is getting full, but it would fit.
Enable me.
