Ran across a guy selling another cool car (which I'll post shortly), and he has this too:

Looks like a nice solid later Cortina. Posting as a favor - no idea who this guy is, but he seemed to have a bunch of cars you folks would like. He's been very responsive so far.

I wonder if a small block ford 5.0 would fit in there?

I really didn't need to see this or the Colt project.
A Mazda BP engine would make more HP than the hot-rod Lotus engine that went in these.
So much want here...

The guy seems cool and motivated to sell to the right buyer, on both cars. Make him happy and maybe there is room on the prices, though both seem reasonable.
Meh. MkII. Much rather have a Hillman Hunter. Seems to have gone up in price. Not the first time I've seen that on CL possibly due to interest.

What other cars does he have? I’m local and have a car buying habit ( not that there’s anything wrong with that!).
LIMA 2.3 with t3... or an old 200I6 with some work. that's a sweet little car.

The 78 Colt / supercharged Miata 1.6 project I also posted here.
So much want. Glad it isn't in FL, otherwise I'd be arranging a tow home.
I had two of these back in the day. Tough little cars that were fun to drive. If this were closer I'd go look at it.

It's been done in the earlier Cortinas, and that was my intent when I picked up a '66 about a decade ago. The very narrow track width of the early cars was what eventually caused me to abandon the project, since I couldn't figure out how to get more modern suspension/brakes/tires under the front with the V8. Fortunately the car ended up with another enthusiast who got it restored and running with the original drivetrain.

The Mercury Capri was based on the same front suspension and I have seen at least 1/2 dozen Capris with swapped in Ford V8's! In fact I know of one that's for sale, not mine.

This would be CAM legal right??
In reply to nocones :
I think you'd need to load it down with ballast to get it up to minimum weight. A 302 or an LS will definitely help with that.

Unfortunately no. Not American, British Ford. Is legal for Heritage Classic though.
