According to the Wiki page, I don't think this is a '72. Any idea on what motor that is? HERE is an old GRM discussion about them.
Seller just sent me this. "The car was bought by my uncle it was complete when he bought it it has I believe a Mercury Capri engine and trans and I believe triumph spitfire front and rear suspension."
Is that not a MG or Triumph motor? I’m not really knowledgeable about English stuff so.
It looks a lot like a Sunbeam engine I helped a friend try to get to fire today. We were not successful.

I will confirm that that is the old Rootes group engine that we saw in this country in Hillman Minx and sunbeam Alpine/Rapier. And Plymouth Cricket. It could be as large as 1725cc or as small as a little under 1500. I have never seen that particular single Stromberg carb setup, so I think it is newer than the last of them we saw.

Non crossflow head? Not a Mercury Capri engine that I know of.
after that cool dented race vintage race car earlier in the week , and now this ,
it seems like Facebook Marketplace is the new hunting grounds......
Seller pulled the ad from FB last night. Texted me this AM that he tried to start the car and engine would not turn over. Offered it to me at $1000 as it sits.
Anyone seriously interested in this? I may be able to facilitate. Would this technically be Gastropod legal? How much spray can you run through a Rootes group motor (asking for a friend)?

Wow. At 3500 I wasn't but at $1000, interest level just went way up!
More info/pictures. Seller thinks it is a 1725 Sunbeam engine.
I can get this to the Challenge, BUT someone has to agree to take this 20-ton press too.

I want this way more than I should. WAY more.
ug ug ug. hobie - I'm going to send you a pm in a few minutes here.
Robbie, I'll make it easy for you. Patrick has already contacted me and placed dibs on the car.
Now, I haven't seen the car yet, nor have I given the seller a commitment. I'm supposed to do so soon, but he has to move the car before he can show it. I will do this ASAP and report back here.

I really hope this works out, that strange nose speaks to me in odd ways
In reply to Patrick :
You’re going to need a 3-car trailer to haul this, the Devin & the Wartburg around on...and a lot of patience & time to talk to people about them.
I actually test drove one of those things about 25-30 years ago. Crude, loud, wind whipped........and a lot of fun. For $1K it would be a neat toy, just add a Miata motor and trans, or some tiny 4 cylinder with a supercharger. Just think of it as a slightly odd looking Locost.
I like crude and loud, i’m keeping my fingers crossed that the seller follows through with his offer to john
Arghhhh, why do people have to be DICKS! Seller just messaged me that he sold the car to another person who offered him $1500 sight unseen. He offered it to me $1000 and I agreed. At no point did he say this was a bidding war. I called him out in my reply. We'll see if he has the balls to reply. Total dick move.
