Whats the deal with the rear suspension? A quick google search says sudden over steer on throttle lift-off, on the mk1 and mk2, but the issue was sorted on the mk3?

Pretty much what you say. But fixes are in for the early cars anyways.

It was the swing axle early MK1 cars that could bite. MK2 cars had Rotoflex suspensions with a lower control arm that solved the problem but was more expensive to build. Triumph went to the swing spring suspension for the MK3 cars and they handle just fine.
