I normally don't post many cars but I know a few folks like these.
I spent a year driving a brown sedan in Australia years ago. It had good tires on the front and not so good tires on the back, I got so I could take it through a roundabout in the rain without really using the steering wheel. I've always had a soft spot for these. A Miata powertrain swap would be a lot of fun without going crazy.
Had a early '80s 4 dr, in the mid '80s. 110k miles. Fwd, but mostly same look. - bought super cheap, cause it had a blown head gasket. When I pulled the head, was amazed: the cylinder walls still looked brand new! Gorgeous cross hatch pattern.
'Merican cars of that era, not so much.

The '82 redesign was actually fairly significant, I remember when it came out. It had a real look of the future at the time, lots of smoothing like the Audi 100/5000. Also, that hatch!
Looking at pics now, I can see how the doors and C pillar of the sedan do look similar to this one. The Australian models (that I was more aware of) had flush headlights which separated them further from the previous gen, they looked more similar in the US.
