NMNA, lots of interesting cars at the auction this weekend even a straight 6 camaro
Ah yes, the v6 citation with the sideways radio. I once had a v6 auto citation that I bought for $100. Once towed a spitfire on a u-haul auto transport behind it from NC to MI.
Good (crazy) times.
My strongest affiliation with this kind of car is that my big brother had a whole bunch of them for the car carrier HO rail car. One afternoon while I was to be napping I crunched them all up because I like wrecked cars.
Big brother was upset.

Oooh, x-11 is kind of a homologation special, isn't the story that john Heinricy got GM to build that so he could win an SCCA showroom stock title with it?
Yes, John was the lead engineer on the X-11 project and it did win SSB that year. It had the 135hp V6 with real cowl induction, a host of chassis tweaks and special braces on the subframe. 1981 was the year to have as the subframe, rack position and exhaust were drastically changed in '82 to share more parts with the A body Celebrity and didn't handle quite as well (though still pretty good for a front driver of the era).
That example shown at auction looks to be in excellent shape. Very, very few of these cars left in any condition. Hope it finds a good home.
Whoa, good find. Two days left, if those prices don't jump too much there could be some good deals there.
I'm glad this one is an automatic, otherwise I'd be in serious trouble. I don't understand why I want one of these so much, but I do.
In reply to Gearheadotaku (Forum Supporter) :
I have an illogical level of want for this car, and I have friends in Temple Hills MD area.
BTW, wasn't chevy using those wheels or a slight variatiion on them all the way up through like 95 on the cavalier z24?
The X-11 Citation was not a particularly good car it was just less crappy than the standard Citation.
I'll have to remember that site. I'm a bit bummed I'm way out of position to pick up the Golf:
I wonder how bad the CEL is to decide to donate it
I am actively working on SWMBO for that car. I like weird and that has that and I want room for the kids, it has that. It's a 7 hour one way from home, I can day trip that round trip. Damn you taste for the weird!
I hear you! Wifey is not nearly as impressed with this ride as I am so I don't like my odds but I'm trying.
It was at $2050 at 9:00 this morning and that was over my max. Then the auction ended and it was gone. So I didn't see the final price.
We had one that we bought NEW. It came withour the right fron seat belt. Go figure!
Sold it at 50K miles when kid 2 came along and SWMBO wanted a four door. We got a non turbo GLH to replace the X11.

GM and the UAW were locked in a prolonged pissing contest during that timeframe. There were all kinds of assembly issues. Some due to apathy and some due to outright maliciousness. I was working at a GM dealership at the time and spent a good part of my time fixing assembly line issues.
