Kinda cool.

I have a 1981 ford courier with a 2.3l 4cyl motor. It's paired with an amazing 5 speed that shifts amazingly. Has all working lights and blinkers. Has a clean title. Is carbuetated and could probably use a rebuild but it's not a bad truck at all and still tuns pretty good. Has newer battery and decent interior. Ptevious owner did short bed conversion on the wrong end which I think it looks like a little race truck and is kind of unique. 1600 obo or trades for anything really. Lmk. Is perfect for 5.0 swap!
So it’s a short-bed, long-wheelbase Courier?

Good question. I can't seem to figure out what I'm looking at. But it works!

That has an amazing 5 speed that shifts amazingly. And it could probably use a rebuild but it still "tuns" pretty good ( is that a hybrid of runs & turns?) and is perfect for a 5.0 swap! I gotta not have that immediately for $1600...
Regular long bed should look like this one.
If this wasn't in dang Wyoming I would be going to get it, even though I absolutely do not need another courier. My 2.3T could go in here and the '75 could get cooler upgrades.
I have family less than an hour and a half away. Hnnnngh.
Did the little Mazda/ford courier get the "big" 2.3, or is that a transplant? I know the small ranger that came out around then did, and the earlier mini truck courier had the smaller 4cyl.
not sure about that one, and considering his ad, it be a waste of time asking him
I'm not exactly sure what you mean on "big" 2.3, but yeah these came from the factory with either a Mazda engine or the ford 2.3 below
In reply to classicJackets (FS) :.
A 1.6, (or so) that came in some of the early import fords, is a smaller engine that the (big by comparison) 2.3. Out of context, I could see somebody over thinking it!
(I grew up when just about every blue collar guy owned a V8, so the "big" was to denote a sense of humor. )

You should be able to ID the engine from the pic with the hood open. It can't have been more than 25 feet away!
"Zoom and Enhance" (yes I took a screenshot of the original pic, zoomed in, and took a screenshot of that)
Looks a lot like the engine in the rather expensive Pinto Ute which has been on FBM for a few months

It's too bad they didn't sell a longer cab version just to get some more storage space inside + get that back window further from the passengers. Like it doesn't have headrests because there's not enough from for the rear glass if they had done so.
I do like the changed proportions on this.
In reply to Oapfu :
I'd rather have a pinto wagon, than a partially finished Ute, but a good ol' fashioned V8 could be shoehorned into either
That one, he either placed the ad to make his wife happy, with no intention for it to sell, or the health issues he's claiming are mental.
That is only a couple thousand dollars away from being a $4000 custom!
Or it comes with several large bags of white powder

My first small truck was a '73 620, I'm 1982. Friend bought a brand new ranger. My Datsun was a bit smaller, but had a lot more room behind the wheel!
Sadly, that was about 100 lbs ago! I can't fit comfortably, in either, today.
