1986 Jeep Comanche- $2500

Long bed 4X4 2.8L V6 5 Speed Manual 155k Miles

It's time to simplify our fleet. We bought this a few months ago to use as a runabout, but just don't have the need for it. It's got brand new Goodyear Wrangler Radial tires, and new front brakes. Rear shoes look fine, and didn't need replacing. Will include new rear shoes and hardware. It has a clean Colorado title, and has yet to be registered in Texas. My friend bought it in Denver back in June, drove it to Houston, and I bought it from him and drove it to Ft. Worth. Neither one of us had any problems with it (aside from being slow). When I did the brakes, it's clear it's been somewhat cared for (DD level) it's whole life, as nothing is frozen or neglected.

There's some mild surface rust in spots (shown in pictures below) but otherwise the frame is solid. It does not have AC (never did), and the radio doesn't work for some reason. Never investigated. I added a button on the dash to work the horn since the slip ring in the steering wheel doesn't work (required for TX inspection), as well as a light for the rear license plate. I'm kind of disappointed I have to sell it, seems like it could be a fun little daily beater.

Located in Ft. Worth, TX. I can be reached at eight 1 seven, seven 9 eight, five 1 three3, or through the forums message system.

I love it...but am in debt and still need to sell my truck then move cross country before I'll need a truck again. So, free bump.

Not to thread jack you here, but I have a question. I know little about these trucks, but a friend has one for sale. He says his is an 88 I believe, and uses a inline-6 4.0 litre automatic. Is it more likely that it is indeed a V6 like this truck? He says his is a "Big Ton" edition with the inline 6 and a Dana 44 axle. Does that make any sense? I'm interested in it as a first vehicle/project for me and my sons(sons and I?). Sorry for the jack, and good luck with the sale. The truck looks nice.

FWIW, I think it would still have the I6 which is a much better motor than the v6. Once Chrystler completely too over from AMC, the products went down hill. The transition was 88/89, I think. My 87 was great. My friends who bought in the 90s weren't so impressed.

Oh and by V6 I am referring to the one that replaced the I6.

Since no one wants to buy it, I'd consider trading for an E30. If you've got an M42 sedan, we've pretty much got a deal.

Perfect truck for a OM617 swap. I have to many projects or I would be making the drive down. GLWS.

Timing is bad. It's hard to find a comanche that's not rusted away, let alone a 4x4 one. I wouldn't even consider the wheezy GM v6 a problem, since it just opens up more motor options.

Still for sale. Been going back and forth on whether to sell it, but we're going to move forward with selling it. We're buying a new battery for it today, and then we're going to get the ball rolling on getting a clean TX title to sell it locally. If any of you out-of-staters want to pick it up before we get a new title for it, we'd be willing to cut you a deal for saving us the hassle.

Did you ever get the title in your name?

How much have you driven it?

Has it been reliable?

-Nope, still CO title. Figured if I'm not going to drive it and register it, it won't make much of a difference.

-Total of a few hours around town, aside from some road trips. Slow to start sometimes when it's cold, but never been unable to start it. Never died on me.

-It drove from Denver to Houston, then Houston to Ft. Worth with zero problems.
