Caught my attention because I just think French cars are neat.

The seller says there's an electrical issue that's preventing the car from starting, so maybe it could be an easy fix?

Asking price is $2500. Link: 1987 Peugeot 505

And very tempting too. Thankfully, I don't have anywhere to put it.

Wow. Somebody clearly loved this car.

Why give up on it now?

Angry spouse?

The seller claims that they "unfortunately don’t have the time on my hands to track down where in the wiring the car decided to be silly," but I wouldn't be surprised if some outside factors are motivating the sale.

The third picture is how that car will spend the rest of it's life.  I would imagine 40 year old french wiring might be quite a challenge.  But so would any 40 YO car.

Hey, it’s in Orlando. That’s not too far from here.

I have a neighbor who was a factory trained Peugeot mechanic back in the 80s. He owned about four of those and could probably fix it in a few hours.

But Florida is too far away. And $2,500 is too much for something that doesn't run and is hard to find parts for.

I bet the seller would take a decent offer.

Maybe the GRM fleet needs a Peugot? You could call it "Whine and Cheese."

It isn't the Turbo version with the 5 speed.

Pretty sure this either changed hands in the last 12 months, or has been posted for a while.  I saw a posting of a very similiar looking car with plainly visible cowl and windowframe rust...ask to see more pictures before you load up a trailer for a long drive.

I worked on Peugeot's in the mid-late nineties at a foreign car shop in Burlington, VT. Great driving cars. Great seats. They keep you comfortable while you wait for the tow truck. This is how I was introduced to them by my boss. Once the service manager at the highest rated Peugeot dealer in America!

Interesting wiring. The wires are numbered, not color coordinated. And, the front parking and side marker lights had an interesting system of wiring in that of the four lights, three were on the same circuit while the left front side marker was on its own if I remember correctly.

Imported Car Center in VT used to run a couple of 505 turbos in a few different series in the nineties. Arlo Cota hillclimbed the last one on the NEHA circuit for many years. He was fast in that thing.

Ordinarily, I'm not a fan of French cars, but I think that this design has aged really, really well.

I didn't like these cars when they were new, but I think this one looks absolutely fantastic today.

I was really hoping that it was in RI or Zimbabwe or similar, but Orlando is too close for comfort. I'll be up in Orlando in a few weeks avoiding Disney. Maybe I'll have to swing by.....

The third pic looks exactly like angry spouse walking away after giving an ultimatum of some sort while friends avoid eye contact and try not to laugh, lest she bury them under the patio along with husband.

Always thought these were cool looking cars.

I know buying a Peugeot with electric issues probably isn't a very good idea, but just hear me out for a second:

That pic says it all.  Hood, trunk, every door open and the wife walking away.  Duct tape on the back door window yet another sign of issues.  Yes they were pretty when new but pretty won't make it start.

If I wanted frustration the lancia zagato would be my choice.  At least when I sit in that the sky above is nice to see.

Is it duct tape? It looks like it's on the B pillar too. I was trying to figure out what they were doing at that moment.

I am pretty sure its masking tape and they are priming/refinishing all the pillars back to black.

My brother worked for Brian Holm in Plainfield Vermont after high school (Twinfield). We had a 404 then a 504. My parents loved them, especially the 504.

I was helping these guys pull a V4 out of the son in laws SAAB 96. After a while I noticed the father in laws car was a 404. I mentioned my brother and Brian Holm. The elder replied he had talked to him the night before!

I think the 1987 has the PRV which I believe to be a nightmare.
