I swore off working on other people's basket case projects but I am really having to hold myself back from grabbing this. If we were not planning a move this year I'd probably do it.

That is a really odd swap.

In reply to MrJoshua :

If you're starting with a ST model (4AFE), a 4AGE or 4AGZE is the only straightforward swap option.

I didn't realize the 4AGZE would be a go to swap. It is pretty limited on power potential with the Supercharger. I knew people put turbo Celica motors in the MR2 as an upgrade so it just seemed weird to go the other way.

Wow that is a really clean looking beast.  I would have thought they would be higher hp that the 150 or so i see listed.  Vs stock still a nice upgrade but...

Yes, thats where my brain went. I also assumed the Celica was noticeably heavier than the MR2 the 4AGZE's came from so why put a small motor in a fat car. A quick search tells me the Celica ST was lighter than I thought and pretty much the same weight as an MR2.  That 4AGZE would be fun with a turbo in place of the supercharger.

Learned stuff today.

Great minds think alike sir.  I am a fan of low hp low weight.  I have never been able to get the ST205 Rallye out of my head despite it not being terribly quick.  The combo of Turbo, Scoop, AWD, and Headlight Pod!!!

Thinking more about this, the whole thing probably hinges on if he's got axles for that trans or not.

If he does, probably a good deal. If he doesn't, that fancy trans is a paperweight.

Since he doesn't mention it, I think there aren't any axles.
