The time has come to move this car on to someone who will get it back on the road. I bought it ~5 years ago with intentions to do an auto to 5spd conversion. Ive come to realize I dont have the time to get it going again.
Details: 1990 C900 base model with effectively dead 3spd auto (I was able to drive it 100 ish mi home, but barely. I havent started it this year, but did add a bunch of stabil to the gas. 253k on the clock, which was broken when I got it. I repaired the odo but didnt reinstall the fascia yet hoping to get a turbo as a powertrain donor. Its been more or less under cover apart from when my HF tent came apart last winter.
The car is originally from TX, and appears to have never seen salt! 80s blue velour interior, and the headliner is not sagging. Clean OH title in my name.
I do have a bunch of random stuff that goes with it, a set of E code lights as well as US lights, fog light brackets, Addco rear sway bar (havent found a front one yet) , some other spare lights/lenses, new eeuro cat back exhaust, and a set of 15x6 alloys from a 9000 that have also never seen salt.

I also have an 86 Turbo that was going to serve as trans donor, located at my parents' house in central MA. It's pretty rusty, no seats, the hatch is mainly rust free though.
I'm thinking 750 for the white car, maybe 200 for trans donor (?)
No ice racers in the house?
dang, these saabs are killing me
If only I had room in the garage.

Man. I really want this and the pile of parts that comes with it. And the parts car. And I'll be passing through OH in the ESV on my way to Detroit in a couple of weeks.
Argh.
I was just reading on Wiki these things can make 200HP , nice! I am looking for a track car but not a project
So like, how dead is the transmission? As someone without a trailer but who does live in NE Ohio, I am super interested.

You're welcome to borrow my trailer or I can even move it from it's current home to the new one depending on when that needs done.
Jordan, the guy admitted he had misfilled it with 'abit' of motor oil, and it has pretty impressive leaks. (My plan was always to 5spd swap it immediately, so I kind of went 'meh') Between that and tires/brakes that havent been gone thru recently, I think the trailer would be the best chance to avoid ending up on the news.
I was actually thinking due to location the donor car would be a good backup trans for the buyer of the other C900 in NY.

That's an awesome gesture that I may have to take you up on as I don't have a tow vehicle.
XLR, so the PO put actual motor oil into the transmission? I thought those T37s took Type F. Oof.
What's your timeline for getting this gone?
And yeah, I agree with you on the parts car.
Yeah kind of a stupid story but he admitted to it. I'm honestly not sure if a small amount like 1/2 qt or less would do anything (?) There's a possibility I still have some type F in the garage as well, but it was shifting kind of wierd on the single drive, so I never bothered to do anything with it.
I don't have massive time pressure; I'd like to have it moved on in the next 3-4 weeks so I can get my RSX under cover, so no worries sorting out getting a trailer.
My plan with the parts car was to pull the drivetrain and whatever else I could use/stockpile, and scrap the shell in MA. Didn't exactly work out that way as a job change left me with a lot less time than I expected.
Okay, I'm in. I just need to figure out how to get it out of there.

PM me if you need me or you can get my number from Patrick.
All of the turbo bits from the trans donor bolt on to the 90 - you could easily make the car a low pressure turbo by setting the waste gate to 6psi, installing the Turbo injectors, running premium fuel. The engines are the same except for piston dish and the exhaust cam. You could run more boost by installing the boost controller, modifying the Turbo distributor (simple mod), and swapping the exhaust cam (which lowers dynamic compression a bit).
The new spare exhaust system may not bolt onto the Turbo cat - I can't recall when NAs and Turbos all got the same cat - if the 90 cat has three bolts not four, then the kit won't bolt on.
Saab sold a light pressure Turbo in Europe - you'd be doing the same thing. I did this to my 86 (which now runs 8-9 psi) and it's good.
I mean, if you're going to add a pedal, why not add a Turbo, too?
OK Jordan has laid down some cash. Planning for shenanigans in process...
If anyone knows a Saabist in New England who wants a backup trans, feel free to forward to them. When I get sone time I'll get some pics of it posted.
Glad to be of enabling assistance
Probably looking to next weekend as both you and I need some back recovery before the next dive into shenanigans. Olivia is home for wisdom tooth removal and hopefully fixing cruise and AC on her car.
Also I need to source a new compressor so we can make it roll. My '98 Craftsman oilless compressor decided to grenade itself this week.

You can come borrow one of my work ones, have a couple porter cable pancake compressors. Borrow until I need it back or you replace.
