I'd like to buy a new WRX, so I need to liquidate something. 2005 Legacy GT auto. It has 281k miles. Rebuilt short block, heads, and a vf48 turbo adapted from an STI in at around 230k miles. Everything works. No check engine light.
Northeast car, crusty underneath, including the brake hard lines.
Full disclosure:
Brake lines are very crusty, no leaks yet but honestly can't be far off. I'd replace them before too long.
Gas smell after fill up, which I assume to be the filler neck.
So honestly, I want to ditch the car at this point. Engine is good. Transmission is original. It's ten years old and spent it's life in the northeast.
No check engine light. Just feel like I don't want to crawl under it to change the brake lines and filler neck.....especially since I can get a deal on a new WRX.
I'm a poor saleman, but want you to know what you are getting. Body is straight, but has a lifetime of dings and scrapes. Headlights are foggy. Leather(ette?) interior is ok, but probably has a handfull of goldfish crackers ground into it.
Seat heaters and A/C great.
Tires ok.
Put plates on it and drive it home without worry.
Just plan to do brakes before long.
Filler neck you can live with if it's going to do beater duty.
Bring all offers, will even consider a 94-2007 impreza shell as partial trade if the shell is rust free.
Looking to sell asap, so price is very negotiable.

If no offers, I'll likely use the engine for my hillclimb car, and scrap the rest.

Wow man, that looks nice.
Thanks.
It's been a great car for us. It'd be a good car for this boards demographic. What is needed in parts isn't a lot, just sweat equity. Though it photographs well, lots of little scratches in the paint, typical for a car it's age and mileage.
If it doesn't sell, I'm going to just pull the motor complete and use it for my new hillclimb car, as it's very strong.
I'm just trying to maximize my down payment on the new car.
It's been my wife's daily, and she isn't exactly a speed demon.
Realistically, it has more value on the part out market, since the mileage is so high. These had an issue with the original turbos, so there are fair amount of these cars out there with problem motors and turbos...and this is the exact opposite. The motor and turbo are strong.
Only had it on the market 24 hours, but no nibbles. Not even a nigerian scammer on craigslist.
If folks think i'm unrealistic on price, I won't be offended if you say so.
I've seen newer Canadian cars with half the miles that look much worse under the hood. Did you have the brake line recall/TSB done?

Oh, the want is very, very strong! Mrs. TB likes it more than I do!
I am very much looking to get out of my civic and into something like this. Minor repairs and blemishes don't scare me at all since it would just be on child hauler duty and live in the city for weekly use...
I am not ready to move today so don't hold it, but if this is still around in a couple of weeks I might get in touch to arrange a fly and drive.
I've only met Mr. Achilles a couple of times but anyone should feel confident doing business with a true GRMer like him.

I did have the tsb done. They only coated the lines with the undercoating stuff, didn't replace any parts. They are crusty but have been coated.
In reply to TB, BTV airport is quite close.
In speaking with the wife, she is amenable to me finding a clean Subi wagon with a manual transmission to swap the motor into. That may yet come to pass, but I'm not looking all that hard yet.
Well my new WRX is here. Running out of room in the driveway. If anybody wanted this, send an offer, I need to make it go away soon.
If I didn't have a kid due in October, I would be trying to talk you into let me challenge this puppy.
Well, it appears this is sold....or at least pending. Took a deposit on it last night, pending a mechanics inspection today. I had a good feeling when the interaction started with, "daddy, that's my favorite color, I love the color".
They both came back from the test drive smiling ear to ear.
