Sold!
2008 Ford Taurus X SEL AWD.
- About 162k miles
- 3.5 V6 260hp - decently punchy
- 6-speed auto trans - smooth shifts and great freeway cruising
- Averages about 19-20mpg in mixed driving
- Roomy 3-row interior with fold flat seats and actually has some cargo space left behind 3rd row when it's in use
- Split seat in center row makes 3rd row actually usable!
- Aftermarket Kenwood bluetooth touch screen head unit, aftermarket speakers, sounds pretty good
The good: Looks good, drives great, smooth fast and handles well for its size. Interior is in great shape, exterior is nice except hood. Comfortable, reliable, and well maintained. Nice set of Ford Flex wheels with great condition tires on them.
The bad: The aluminum hood has paint problems, and some clear coat is failing on the front fender tops. There's some rust in the driver's rear quarter underneath that's not visible from above but is present. TPMS warning light on due to wrong sensors in wheels. I have wheels with correct sensors but worn tires on them, will throw them in with sale if you want them.
Sold sold sold!
I will forever sing the praises of our dear, departed Taurus X. One of the best vehicles we've ever owned. By the way, the passenger's seat folds flat, too, and you can fit stuff up to 10' long on that side with it folded.
To be honest I was on the fence with this one. If singleslammer hadn't popped up with his trade offer on the Mazda wagon, this was probably going to end up the new daily. But I was passively looking for a Volt and that will serve commuting duties just great. I know I'll miss this car, it's been really great to us.
Those seem like the perfect utility transport. The ones I sat in were comfy, roomy, cheap, and can haul stuff. Just works for everything and is inoffensive in every possible way.
Someone's gong to get a great deal on this one.
Curious, does it seat 6 or 7 people total?
6 people. Third row is between the wheel wells so only 2 seats.
There's been more interest in this than I thought! I hope someone can get as much enjoyment out of it as we did.
Wow, this looks pretty damn good for the price. I wonder if I could find a use for this thing if I sell the other car(S)...
Well dang, this is sold!! Less than 9 hours from posting for sale to cash in hand. The $5 Craigslist ad was way, way worth it and the buyer was a nice guy who didn't quibble at all over the price. I hope he gets years of use out of it.
Nice! It is always nice when a sale is quick and painless. I usually own weird stuff that takes forever to sell so I usually don't have that happen... I am glad that we managed to trade our weird stuff to one another!

Obviously late to this part, but would like to say that I had no idea the blue oval had such a pony in the stable.....very interesting ..how many years/months was this available?
Several years. It had a name change durints run as I remember....but memorial weekend cocktails leave me unable to remember the name before Taurus X.
In reply to ultraclyde :
I think these were called Freestyle in the beginning. Sold poorly in my area.
The Freestyle was visually very similar but had a smaller, lower HP motor and a cursed CVT transmission that was failure prone. You don't want a Freestyle. The Taurus X was only sold in 2007-2009 model years. The Flex was the replacement - same platform, a bit bigger and funkier styling.
