A flathead! We had a 1960 AMC and it had an OHV straight 6 in it. But research shows that AMC had both a OHV and L head 6 during the early 60's.
This is my favorite body style AMC. It would make a great street rod with a modern engine and suspension upgrades. They did install the 290 V8 in those and the restyled version by 1969 got a 390 V8 in a special model.
