1.5 hrs away.
I should be on this like white on rice but I cant see a way to reasonably get there before Friday (4 days away.)
It will be gone when the banks and notary open in the morning. Maybe sooner.
At this point the ad has been up for just 50 minutes.
John , what would you guess was the real problem and how much to fix ,
it's too far away for me anyway , but I love learning what goes bad and how you can figure it out with a few photos and maybe talking to the owner who probably has no idea .
Thanks for teaching us :)
Ad says bad hybrid battery.
Dealership charges $3k for battery. A lot of refurbished will still be $1k. Owners don't want to drop $3k for what they perceived as a $3k car.
As a real GRMer the battery can be refirb'ed for $200.
I have a parts car here with a good battery.
With only 120k miles on the car, that's a $5k car (maybe more) when back to running.
I'll bet he marked it sold to stop the huge flow of inquiries who all promised to be there next morning (today) to pick up.
I drove 2.75 hours each way last night to pick up this one. It also needed a hybrid battery, but I paid $1500.
I was disappointed to see the damage on the passenger side, but to score these deals, you have to act quickly, go with cash in hand, and NOT ask a bunch of questions. Most of the time, once the seller has made the decision they want to sell the car, they want to make it go away quickly, and I make it as easy and painless as possible for them. Note: this is the 12th Prius I've purchased.

Yep, I was once an absolute hater too. I celebrated when I first saw this, now I cringe:
Now, it's my side hustle.
