In today's market this seems like a great deal. Just over $6k 119k mileage and new clutch. Pre SULEV fuel pump issues I think.

The last 10k maintenance on the owner was expensive.  Tire, clutch, valve cover gasket, and cooling system would cost them 4k$ at a shop. If the car is solid, the price is good. Just remember its a 22 year old car....

I don't see $6k for this car unless it looks much better in person than in the pictures.  Maybe a clean carfax & some documentation to support the 119k mileage claim. Or if it's an actual ZHP car (unlikely considering the wheels, etc).  I've seen plenty of nicer E46s (albeit higher mileage) in the $3500 to $4500 range in FL recently.  The maintenance is a major plus...cooling system refresh is a must-do.  Between the recent maintenance & the clutch, the seller has spent some money.

I suppose it could be easier to fix the cosmetics to your liking than re-do all this maintenance on another car.  If the interior is in good shape w/sport seats that would make a difference as well.

It's tough to see in the photos, but it kind of looks like the paint is a bit flat...especially on those front fenders.  If they're real M3 fenders, that would explain the paint issue. If they're stick-on fender vents...ugh.   The DTM muffler tips are another sign you may also find more questionable "upgrades." If you look closely the taillights are different in two pictures...hopefully the seller ditched the clear altezza style lights for the OEM ones (unless you're into that kind of thing).

In reply to Hoondavan :

The whole front end is M3 (except the hood), headlights/turnsignals/bumper and all. That car definitely has been in a front end accident. I would pass.

Funny enough I think I know where this car is parked from the photos. I might have seen it in person unknowingly.

Registration is past due.

That is not a small thing in California. The question is how far past due it is...

Car definitely looks like it was wrecked and got a poor respray. Plus, "Altezza" tails, crappy looking DTM muffler...this thing has been beat on.

Also, the '99-00 E46s (323/328) are when the unibody subframe mount tearing was a REAL problem. Starting with Feb. '00 production (mostly MY01) the mount design changed and the possibility was greatly reduced. You really don't want a '99-00 E46 if you have a choice.

ZHP didn't become an option until 2003, only on the 330i/ci.

Hard pass. My guess just by looking at the photos is that the owner was in a front end collision and then spent a bunch of money to repair it instead of having insurance total the car. Now they're trying to recoup what they spent on the repairs.

Opposite coast, but a better example:
