That one is horrible, but the Yugo Cabriolet is a pretty rare car. They were twice the price of the hard top new.

Wasn't the reason they are so rare because they started making them about a year at most before Yugoslavia broke up and ended up in near constant war?

On a lighter note, I wonder how many "convertible-only" parts are on them other than the top?  It wouldn't surprise me if there aren't many, and hatchback parts were just crudely adapted.

There is some Yugo-phile counting a bucket of change with a full boner right now after discovering that ad.

I wonder if I bought it, what would Midwest-Bayless in Columbus pay me for it?

Mainly I think it's because they weren't very good cars...

I went to Slovenia in 87 before the breakup. My relatives and everyone else in the village had Zastavas, probably because that was all they could get.  They also had stockpiles of engines, trans and everything else because they just weren't very durable.  Talking with people, they were amazed that my '79 Accord had never had the head off at over 100k miles.

That said, I still think it would be a hoot to have a slightly modded one to add to my collection of misfit toys.

I don't even hate those and that more closely resembles a litter box than a car.

I'm a little embarrassed to say I came close to buying a "special" Yugo.  It had very low miles, in showroom condition, had a hopped up X1/9 1500cc engine, a cage and came with studded ice racing tires on some nice alloy wheels.  This was in Wilbraham, MA (which might be a clue for some of you in New England).
