With 010,337 showing on the odometer, I started to return this VIXEN to driving condition in June. The VIXEN had sat immobile for about 27 years. It is 21' long, 6 1/2 ' high and reportedly gets 30 mpg.
Today it has zero miles on 4 brand new Michelins. The BMW diesel was professionally rebuilt with new engine parts from BMW and was satisfactorily run before reinstalling. Radiator was rebuilt and re-cored. An aux fuel pump is installed. Injection pump is professionally rebuilt. Fuel system is complete. A new throw-out bearing is installed. Seats are recovered in original material and design. New weather stripping, both roof and doors. New rear springs have been acquired. New rear shocks acquired. New muffler. R12/R134 a/c compressor acquired. Midships control panel is fully functional. I have documented and categorized a manual of maybe 100 pages concerning an '87 Vixen with its differences from the '86 VIXEN. I have saved my receipts
At my age (77), I have run out of steam and will not be continuing to finish the project.
Remaining: 3 12v batteries yet to be purchased. Engine has not been started since re-installation, some wiring needs attention. Both a/c systems will need attention. Miscellaneous gauges and lights need attention.
I have a large spare parts accumulation. All will be included with the sale (maybe as much as $3,000 in VIXEN interior and exterior parts).
This Vixen is for sale as is and where is. Shipping is on you; it will not drive onto a carrier (must be loaded). I will accept an offer of $12,000 or nearest to that. I have a clear Florida title and all my paperwork will pass with the sale
