I'm sure this won't help but I'm doing it anyway, because enabling.
Game rules. Car has to cheap and able to make the drive from St. George, UT to Gainesville and back (and then be sold) with little to no work required.
Searching in a 100 mile radius to St. George, UT I came up with:
2002 X-type, AWD $1k
1988 Pulsar $900
1992 Paseo - $800
Mark VIII is a solid choice.
Thanks John. I'm game to see where this goes.
Two caveats.
1- good mileage
2- super cheap. Like really, really cheap.
Or, if someone sees something they want, I'd be willing to drive it out to Gainesville possibly.
Pm if that sounds cool. Lots of rust free old interesting stuff out here in the desert.
So I'm missing what happened to the planned car. Where was that?
In reply to Stampie (FS) :
In the build thread. I have a title, but it is not signed. I do not have a bill of sale from the last registered owner. I cannot get registration in under 90 days. Towing is out, shipping the car and flying is complicated and expensive.
I may just run the mustang. It's slow af but it'll get there and it has plates/insurance. And I might have a better chance of selling there and flying home. Or if something else comes up in this thread.

That sounds like fun for a later date

Or if you want my mustang... just saying.

I've got a plan for something, and sadly another Mustang isn't it.
In reply to Professor_Brap (Forum Supporter) :
Which I could trade the mustang for, but not buy outright. Fairly sure I could go the long way to Florida through Ohio, either going or coming.
This is not quite what you were asking for, but I kinda like this '62 Chevy.

Hmmm. You could drive to PA in the Mustang, leave it here with me, take my Probe to the challenge, find Hoosiers for it on the way down, see how it compares to last year's results on 700tw tires...probably too convoluted of a plan
In reply to barefootskater :
You have a Q45. How's it running? Easy path to a top 10 finish
In reply to John Welsh (Moderate Supporter) :
Not great. I was nervous driving to the dmv this morning in it. And I really do not want to gut the thing. It's too nice.
In reply to hobiercr (FS) :
I just looked at that Jag. You are evil. That was when jag was ford, yes? Is that 2.5 v6 the same a the probe/Mx-6? Anyone know?
*edit. It's not. But it makes near enough 200hp at a healthy 6800. I wonder if they'd trade for the ford....
As for gutting the Q45... In 2014 I took 11th in a 1991 Q45 with everything in the car including the spare tire still in the trunk. The following year I took 10th in a 1990 Q45 with everything in the car including the spare tire.
If I get my Camaro running well in the next little bit, I'd sell a wee little bit cheaper than I have it listed right now if it was 100% going to the Challenge. I'm near a major airport, too.
In reply to John Welsh (Moderate Supporter) :
Hmmm. Tempting. It's thirsty though. Been averaging 16mpgs. Does it by chance take 5x114.3 wheels?
still hesitant to drive it out of town. I think it's a fuel pump issue, but at $200 I don't want to throw parts guess at it.
* it DOES take 5x114.3 wheels. I have a set of light wheels with decent tires...
Correct, yes, 5x114.3 I can confirm the thirsty.
Here is the saga of my Q45s at The Challenge
I ran both of mine on the same modified ECU which brought the "VTEC" on quicker and moved the auto trans shift point to 7,400 rpm!
In reply to John Welsh (Moderate Supporter) :
My reading has me believing that my 96 is the only year without vvt.... and I have zero budget for mods other than the wheels/tires I already have.
